without a trace just mean there is no evidence of where they went. Not that there is no evidence that they existed.

Because they are no longer with them?? So if someone you know, like your mom or dad, "vanished without a trace" you wouldn't realize they were missing???

People know the person and notice they are gone and have mad e no communications with anyone for a certain amount of time usually between 4-8 weeks

its not a question of whether people notice when someone is missing but rather the missing answers as to where and how they disappeared without any evidence being left behind to give clues to those unanswered questions.

Because their friends and family make everyone aware that they are missing and make an effort to find that person.
