My general test for a woman's interest in me is if she'll actively engage me in conversation that's not work related. If she comes up and asks if she can get my input on something, that's not necessarily interest. If she comes up to me while I'm leaving and asks what I'm doing this weekend, that's a sign of interest.
I generally don't think of a smile alone as a sign of interest, though depending on how old you are, that may differ. Younger women probably won't be as forward as older ones.

A ton of girls smile at me. Have to smile and have a lot of eye contact, talk to me, touch, etc for me to really know somebody is interested.

If you like the girl then you get happy and when a girl similes at you it does give me a sign of interest.

datz a coincidence, sum gurl i neva talked 2 before keeps doin dat weneva i see her n da hallway.. but i finally talked 2 her 2day & she seemed interestin... so i think itz a sign of "like"
