I enrolled my son in preschool and after 1 month he still keeps crying every time I bring him. I thought that it would only last 2-3 days, but he still cries! I'm afraid I'm just pushing him too hard if I keep bringing him to school. I don't know, maybe he is just not ready yet. My husband says not to bring him and wait a few months more but my parents advices me to keep bringing him to preschool. What should I do?

I teach preschool...ask the teacher if he cries after you are gone. Some kids do cry often but stop the second the parent is out of sight. He may cry for a long time...they could be many reasons, he is tired, hungry, trying to gain control over going to school, also he may think you are not coming back (this is a common concern with little kids...more sure he knows you will come back for him). If you pull him out he will probably just repeat the behavior when you return him to school...I have seen this happen before as well...best thing is consistency, keep bringing him in...i promise he will stop crying and he will have fun learning and playing with the other kids in his class.

If he cries all day or for long periods, maybe he isn't ready. We began bringing our daughter to day care when she was just under two. She cried, but the care givers told us not to worry about it as she stopped a couple of minutes after we left and started playing with the other kids. But she cried for months on the way and when we dropped her off. She was working us, as your son may be working you.

you know what one of the parents did they put the child in the middle of the class with the kids and waited till the child wasn't looking and then left it is a hard trick to play but the child never cried. Not all kids get over separation in a few days it takes time. Don't they say Rome wasn't built in a day? you pull him out now and keep him longer it is going to get worse. i have seen it before they scream and holler then as soon as you leave they find something to meddle with

He's not ready to be apart from you two yet. You shouldn't force him to because that will only make him miserable. Take him out and for the next few months, try to get him ready for school and get him used to being apart for you.

But there's another problem. If you take him out now, he'll assume that he won't have to go to school and when he starts kindergarten, he'll probably cry and fuss about going.

You have to decide if you want to prepare him or make him face the truth.

I'd take him out.
