Inside Saudi Arabia women are forbidden to drive, a ban made official in 1990 by Fatwa (edict) issued by the Council of Senior Ulama (religious schoolars)

The offence of Khilwa (being alone with a male who is not an immediate relative), is punishment for both men and women, but it appears to be more frequently enforced on women.

Women in KSA who walk unaccompanied, or are in the company of a man who is neither their husband nor a close relative, are at risk of arrest on suspision of prostitution or other "moral" offences.

But anyway it's okay for a woman for have a male "driver". It's a difference if a woman rides with a man or if the man's profession is being a driver.

These rules/laws is for the whole Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and also includes Al Khobar & Dammam.

Take care.

@ABC: what's wrong with a woman and her "driver"?????
Hope God and the Angles will not find anything wrong with that. How else is a woman going from point A to point B???

YOu know.. having read all this.. think about this.. (by the way. I live in Khobar) anyways.. Supposedly all the religious dudes say women cant drive (which isnt religious) and cant be in a car un chaperoned, but.. 90% of all women take taxi's, busses, shuddles, etc to work, school, shopping, and where ever they want by strange taxi drivers, buss drivers, etc. and these men are employed from foreign labor source and not even of the same religious faith, but fathers, husbands, brothers dont seem to mind this.. I find it all hypocritical.. You'd trust your pre-teen in a taxi with a strange foreigner, but wouldnt with some neighbor friend who happens to be a male..

No, officially they can not. But the fact is controls are less frequent in Khobar & Dammam than Riyadh.

Far from the same now if the woman slept with a bunch of guys you might be able to feel that way but a few partners in life doesn't ruin her granted we all want to be a person's first it doesn't happen like that most times be happy if you have someone who loves you

No, it is a wrong observation. Women cannot ride in a car with a man if they are not legally married.

Cheers.

Man and women are not allowed to be alone if they are not officially marred, this is not only the Saudi rule, but it is our Islam instruction.
The question is, why should she go with him if they are not marred??? Unless their is something illegal “taboo” between them.
However, doing the wrong thing is something very easy, if you want to do it, police can’t watch every man and women, BUT, God Is Watching you, God is always there. His angels watch over you every second of the day. He sees you and knows all what you are doing.

Very very very very big NOOOOOOOO.
Women will ride camels by their own 75 years from now, but will never ever drive cars in Saudi. Not now or in the future.
Trust me in this.
