First, kudos to you for taking a careful look at the issue; most people don't. When I was eight years old, I realized that the biblical tales could not be reconciled with science, and since science is obviously correct (it works!), the bible had to go. I have not, then or since, seen any evidence of the existence or non-existence of god. It provably follows from this that no theory of god can be of any significance or use in the real world. So I'm an atheist. If you have a lot of time, read Kung; he is a Catholic theologian, and has a lot to say: it's a huge book. But the Dawkins book is probably the best examination of the position.

I am a born Muslim. My religion Islam is practised by 1 billion people. It is the majority religion in the Middle East, Central Asia, SE Asia. There are growing minoriites in Europe, USA.
Islam is a monthesitic religion which believes in one God. We are not supposed to have any partners with God i.e he has no son or daughter. We are not supposed to being making pictorial images of God or prophets.
Islam is a revised version of the old and new testament. It recognizes the Torah and the Bible as revealed books. Adam, Eve, Noah, Moses, Abraham and Jesus are all recognized prophets in Islam. The only difference is that Jesus is not the son of God. He was not crucified but taken up to heaven. He will return. The last prophet is Muhammad (PBUH)
The five pillars of Islam
Believe in one God and Prophet Muhammad as the last prophet
Praying 5 times a day
Fasting during the month of Ramadan
Making a Pilgrimage to Mecca once in a lifetime
Giving charity to the poor
Today Islam is the fastest growing religion. It is gaining a lot of converts these days especially in the West. Islam is a religon of peace and tolerance. What we see in the media is not the correct representation of Islam.
I think I am very satisfied with my religion. It is a religion that brings inner peace and happiness. It frees you from all the evils and corrupt things of the society.
Premarital sex, Alchol, Gambling and Pork are forbidden. Women enjoy a great deal of respect in Islamic society. They are required to be modest i.e cover up. This is done to protect their chastity. In other words, they should not be treated as sexual objects.
You mentioned that you wanted to convert to some other religon. I would encourage you to read about Islam. Dont make any opinion watching the news. There is a lot more to know than what is in the media. You can get books on Islam If you have questions please take time to meet the Muslim community. They will be happy to answer your questions. They are moderate Muslims who have made a difference in the West.

To start, why do you believe that 1 + 1 = 2 ?
I hope it's not because someone told you.
The right answer is that you believe so because it makes sense and because you've thought through it.
You've thought about the possible alternatives and you've thought about why it could be true.
You thought about it with no bias to either side.
It makes sense that two apples can be gotten from adding and apple to another.
It makes sense that 3 X 3 = 9, because three crates, each with three bottles of milk in it, hold, altogether, 9 bottles of milk.
You believe these things, because you have thought through them.
I believe that there are no gods, but The One GOD.
I believe that everyone from Adam to Soloman to David to Moses to Jesus to Muhammad are all mortal men and prophets.
I believe that Jews, Chrisitans, and Muslims can all go to Heaven.
I believe in Evolution and in Religion, which I don't believe contradict.
I believe that, in the two thousand years since Jesus, the bible has been changed. I believe that as Roman emperors and all other great powerful people of those times saw something that they didn't like in the bible, they changed it. There are many editions of the bible.
I believe the same thing of the Torah, the Psalms, and many other old books.
I believe that not a word of the Quran is false.
If you want more info, email me.
P.S.: I don't mean to insult anyone who disagrees with me.

I've kind of compiled my own religion out of things I've learned from others. No one specific religion makes sense to me, so I guess I believe in Faith more than anything. Karma is a big part of it - something that is actually a major point in many religions, but has mostly been forgotten - I firmly believe that if I do good things, the good will be returned to me. I see small examples of it throughout the day - something like stopping to let someone cross the street makes me wait long enough for the best parking spot to open up - those things make me feel that bigger things will work out as well, as long as I deserve them. I don't believe in god in any form, I feel more tied to the Earth, and think that's where we get our energy and "spiritual" feelings from - I feel much more peaceful and full of life in the middle of the woods than I do in a church, or while in prayer. I don't believe in heaven or hell as a belief or as a feasible place - I believe that our spirit's energy returns to the earth that created it, and in doing so, sprouts new life that will hopefully bring us closer to peace. I also don't believe in organized religion - I believe a person is closer to themself and better able to connect with their spirituality while alone rather than singing repetitive words with people I don't know.
I guess I don't really have a solid belief or religion - I know what doesn't make sense to me, and I'm comfortable and happy in it - which to me is the most important factor of religion - a happy life!

My Wife and I are Jehovah's Witnesses. People say we are a cult but we are not. A cult works behind closed doors and doesn't want alot of people to know about them, like Waco and Heavens Gate. Jehovah's Witnesses preach all over the world and invite all to come to our Kingdom Halls. We believe in the Bible and have no man made traditions. WE believe Jehovah is God and his Son is Jesus.

I have none.
There is no evidence that there is a god. No evidence essentially means that someone made it up. It isn't rational or reasonable to believe in things without any evidence to back it up. You would be stuck with thousands of gods and everything else that human imagination could come up with since they all have the same evidence.
Not believing in god is the same as not believing in Odin, Zeus, Ra, Hera, Bacchus, The Great Spirit, Osiris, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and all the others. I would be no less surprised of evidence of Odin was found than I would be if evidence of your god was.

I have no religion. I have faith - I know God. But I currently have no perscribed religion that I follow. My faith comes from what seems to be inherent inside me. And I also have a peace, serenity and happiness that I have not know till this time.
My suggestion to you is to know God. If you are struggling - then drop the religion and build a relationship. All religion is is a collection of traditions that are designed to help you grow closer to God and celebrate the Divine. In reality you don't need it. What you actually need is a relationship with God - and an understanding of the love that created you. And the love that is avaiable to you. It is over powering and unlimited. It also comes with power, if you have true faith.

I believe in the Bible. And if you are converting, convert to a church that follows the bible all the way. Believe in the bible and the teachings of Jesus. If a priest, or preacher goes against what the bible says, then you should know that, that church is not the one for you. Pray to God and ask him to show you the way, and lead you down the right path.

Athiest. I dont beleive in any religion because logic and reason tell me they are all fake and a cruel joke. Feel free to throw away your life on one of these beleifs but ask yourself a question. What makes sense to you? Most people are going to hell, including you, for picking the wrong religion and not stroking gods ego. Or dinosaurs are real and having 2 of all animals and insects on a ship is not possible. I have studied most religions and they all have very unbelievable stupid things like this you must beleive in. God will punish and burn you in hell for all eternity if you do not worship him, but he loves you. Yeah right.

Athiest. Most Christians I have met just want to pick a fight with you if you don't believe in God. I simply don't see enough positive evidence to make me believe in such a thing as an Invisible man in the sky who watches everything.
