An excellent car. I've had two, and both were very good vehicles. Even with high miles. Both have had over 200,000 miles and one still runs strong today. The other one is currently down with a minor electrical problem.

The engine is very powerful compared to other similar cars of the time. About 200 hp is what it has, and many a time has it pulled me far out in front of that one car that you regret pulling out in front of.

But even though it has a powerful engine, the avalon is a very economic car as well. About 25 mpg is what we get now, perhaps even 30. Very good on gas.

The accessories are also superb, consisting of the power seats, antenna, and awesome sound system, are excellent for both long and short trips, and very easy to use.

It is a very comfortable riding car, the seats are perfect in my opinion. Everything is easy to reach.

The suspension is really the only downfall. Both cars I've had have had the same bad struts that need replacing. But in the car's early stages the suspension was superb, and was completely silent. It contributed to the comfortable ride.

Another issue was the power steering system started leaking in the car out of service just recently. It was fixed with a little stop leak from the hardware store though.

Still, a very good car. I would consider buying one. I hope this helped!

THE BEST F---IN' CAR I EVER HAD!!! I used to have a 97 Avalon XLS, and I miss it ever since I traded it in for my crappy Dodge.

It had good gas mileage, plenty of power, super quiet ride, a trunk so big that you could tie someone up and put them in it, and it is the roomiest Japanese car you can buy. Avalons only come in two trim levels: "XL" and the "XLS". The XLS is the top-of-the-line version.

If you buy one, make sure to have a certified mechanic check it over. It's a great car.

And pay no attention to the person that said to put a noisy muffler on it. An Avalon is not a tuner car, so leave the noise and the bling-bling to the little kiddies and their toy cars.
