Are some roses purple?

I saw the most beautiful roses once........they were purple and white striped. Never did find out the name. Look in Jackson & Perkins rose catalog for purple ones.

I have a near black rose that actully looks purple when it blooms. You can find one at MichiganBulb.com. I have been growing mine for a couple years and it seems to be turning towards the redder shades of purple. It is a pretty flower.

Yeah you can get them two ways:
1. By buying them but don't expect to find them so easily cuz they're very rare.
2. Make 'em urself by getting a white rose and putting some lilac or purpule-ish food coloring in water but make it very watered down or youll get really deep purple flowers-unless that's waht you want. Hope it helps!

Sterling Silver, and Blue Nile are two roses lavender/purple.

umm yes there are definately purple roses. There are yellow, red, pink, coral, purple, white, dark red{almost so red its black} and everything inbetween. There are also roses that have for example a coral base and a more pinkish tip. Anything like that.

A friend of mine who has the most beautiful rose garden I have ever seen, grows these roses that he calls "blue" roses. But they look like they are a violet or bluish violet color!

Well, they do not grow out to be the color purple. There are purple roses that are real that are sold, but they have been dyed.

They are called Sterling and are rare. They are very expensive and can usually only be purchased through a florist during part of the year.

I have never seen a purple rose. I never seen a black rose either until appox. one year ago. They say you can spray paint them.

You can have the roses dyed to be purple or whichever color you want. I think that it is actually more expensive to do that, but I do know you can dye them to be whatever color.
