Preventing afternoon tiredness actually starts the day before....with your diet and sleep and exercise habits.

If you are routinely getting worn out each afternoon, then you're probably not eating as you should. If you have caffeine, artificial sweetners, too much processed sugar or excess fat in your diet (to name a few), then it will have a profound effect on how you feel. You need to get back to a more natural lifestyle - with organic fruits and veggies, whole grains (heart healthy oils only), lean meats, nothing overly processed or unpronouncable in the ingredient list. Most people eat all the bad junk, but then most people spend alot of time not feeling well, battling low-to-no energy, and eventually taking on more serious diet-related problems like heart disease, diabetes or cancer.

The other issues are sleep and exercise. You need adequate amounts of each in order to feel better and maintain the energy levels God created your body to have.

If you want to prevent afternoon tiredness (and poor health in the future), then this is the only way. Or you can temporarily zap your body with an additional cup of caffeinated coffee, or a Vivarin pill to snap you awake.

Good luck, wishing you all the best in your health choices!

Eat like a king at breakfast, a prince at lunch and a pauper at dinner. With lots of healthy NON-PROCESSED carbs in the morning along with protein you should not crash.

Consume NO caffeine, red bull type beverages in fact cut out all white sugar, bread etc.

Add daily moderate exercise to whatever workout you already do, e.g. a brisk 30 minute walk at 11 a.m.

Believe me, with this, you will not crash.

The bet foods are things like lightly steamed dark green veggies, a little flourless bread, fresh berries, some protein, olive oil, lots of water.

In most Americans it is THE CRAP PROCESSED FOODS that is making everybody sick and tired (although obviously I don't know you!)

You should have a good breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. You should get a lot of sleep (A.M.A.P). You should work out A.M.A.P. Walking to school if you are in a walking distant, after school bike riding, and walking at lunch recess are all great ways to get excerise in.
