This is non-work related. I injured my hand in the area between my fingers and my wrist. I initially experienced a hot sensation followed by a chill in my hand. I went to the doctor and she gave me a comfortable splint to wear at night only because the splint keeps me from doing normal things during the day.

So a couple of weeks pass by and my hand is still aching and if I'm using a tool at my job (especially a screwdriver!!!) I have this sharp pain in that area. I've put an icepack on my hand at night and in the morning. Doctor says that I haven't broken any bones. It is taking forever to heal, and the muscle relaxer and ibuprofen pills aren't helping.

What are some alternative products or methods to use along with the RICE method? I'm trying to Rest, use Ice as much as I can but I'm also looking for employment.

I haven't even read what you wrote...

THE A rule of sceletal and myo problems, is REST and NOT USING the limb.

For the rest, go to an orthopedist...

Bad things you can do:

1. Use painkillers- they will ease the pain so you won't feel it while you keep hurting your wrist.
2. Use the other wrist for twice the load- you soon have no wrists at all.

Take care.

Ice, ibuprofen, etc often do not work too well when it is just or mostly NERVE damage. I know, I have severe sciatica. Can't you find out more? Go see a neurologist and THEN a good accupuncturist that specialises in hand and wrist stuff.

Ask to see a Rheumatologist and have blood work done to rule out Rheumatoid Arthritis.
