If you are a child and this is out of your control, then you should feel sad and you should promise yourself to never allow another animal to go through this. If your parents ever consider getting another animal, urge them not to and remind them what happened with "Fudge".
If you are a child and dumping you dog is within your control (you promised to feed her but didn't, you promised to spend time with her but didn't, etc), then you should feel ashamed for being so selfish and short sighted. Don't get another animal until you are settled in life and can respect life more seriously.
If you are an adult, you should feel guilty and horrible. An adult never *HAS* to give an animal up. They *choose* to. More careful thought before jumping into getting one may have shed light on this and prevented you from being a bad person.

I'm not sure why you are getting rid of a dog that you have got so close to...If you have a really legitimate reason for being forced to get rid of the dog, then I guess the only thing you can do is do it quickly so the dog can move on and get settled with her new home. Give yourself time and I'm sure you will adjust to the loss, and next time don't get a dog until you are absolutely sure you can keep it and care for it for the next 15 years...

I'm sure that dog really appreciates you jerking around her emotions like that.
“How should I feel?”
…
If you need to be told how to feel when giving away a dog that you were supposed to love and take care of for its lifetime, then perhaps it is best that you don’t have one after all.

I'm sure you have a valid reason for having to give her up. I won't judge you for that. I just hope she goes to a loving, committed family and makes the adjustment easily. How old is she?
I guess as for how you should feel, it is up to you.

If you love and truly care about her you should feel terrible. If you have no feelings on the matter, I hope she finds someone the dearly loves her. Dogs DO have feelings to you know!!!!!!!!!!

If she's so sweet and you're so attached and close to her, why are you getting rid of her?
There's more going on that you haven't told us...

If she's so sweet and you're so attached to her... hmmm.
Than why get rid of her. hmmm... I just don't get it!
Sorry! And you shouldn't feel disgusted because it's not your fault. They don't know what the're saying! Just ignore who ever told you that you should be disgusted!
Have A Great Day

OK, you've shown your irresponsibility and insensitivity to this dog. PLEASE DO NOT OWN ANOTHER DOG!!! You can't handle the commitment.

Well I'm sure you have a good reason that you have to get rid of her. it's natural to feel bad but as long as you no that she's got a good home that should make you feel better.
