a lot of things are thanks to WWI, mostly because of the Treaty of Versailles
1. The Birth of countries like Poland, Yugoslavia, and other eastern European nations
2. Russia becoming the USSR
3. Nations going to Dictatorships
4. WWII
5. League of Nations( a fore-runner of the United Nations)
6. The Great Depression
7. The Development of Modern Warfare, Tanks, helmets, Combined arms tactics.
8. The problems in the Middle East. Britain promised the middle east as an Arab Homeland.
9. The Delcine of Europe and the rise of the US
10. The power of science and the decline of religion.
Hell, a lot of today's pains come back the that war and the peace treaty that ended it. Britain and France were too greedy and wanted to punish Germany. The Germans signed under protest. The Treaty of Versailles. Think about it Germany would had to pay all of the war debts of the wining countries till 1987! and they were forced to take soul responsibility for the First Word War. How could any good come for so bitter a pill to swallow for the whole world. Hell Britain and France short changed their own Allies, Italy and Japan were on are side during WWI and felt as being used after the Paris Peace Conference so in WWII they were are enemies

If you're going to write an essay, you're going to need something other than "world war II".
Ok, so it did lead to WWII. Here are a few reasons why.
1.) Hitler was the cause of WWII. Hitler took over Germany, then Poland, because he was mad about the unreasonable $33million of reparations Germany had to pay for WWI, which crippled the German economy. So he was determined to pull Germany out of this and make it the most powerful nation in the world (aka, a dictatorship).
2.) WWI saw the most technologically advanced weaponry of its time. There were bomber airplanes, poisonous gas, artillery shells, tanks, and trenches. There was also the first of the two biggest losses of human life from the most number of countries. It left the world dazed, shocked, and horrified, not just the countried involved. also, it was one of the first in which there were small movie clips. It increased international communication, since everyone wanted to know about their sons and husbands in the war - and since they were from just about every major country, it was an international effort.
3.) The Ottoman Empire fell and several pieces of land were redistributed. There was no longer an Austria-Hungary. There were several political changes and changes in national territory. this eventually lead to conflict between ethnic groups, their land being divided and redistributed, thus losing some identity. WWII changed them again, but WWI definitely did it first.
I hope this helps with your paper!

A) Do some research
B) Because of a poor political process, and weak and vengeful diplomacy, Germany was in a bad spot economically and militarily. This eventually lead to World War II.
Read about how and why the war began, then think about it in respect to what happens after the war is over. Then think about how World War II ended much differently.

Hell no the legacy of WW1 is not the creation of the League. The League of Nations did absolutely NOTHING. The legacy of WW1 is the break up of every major colonial empires in the world. The Russian empire was destroyed and Lenin took over from the Tsar. The British empire lost a large number of its foreign colonies. The French empire also broke up. The Austro-Hungarian and the German Empire was forced to give up all their overseas colonies as one of the agreements in the Treaty of Versaile.

With all due respect, if you are writing an essay, the reason it was assigned to you was for YOU to do the research and thereby learn the subject matter, not to post a question on Yahoo and have others answer it for you.
