In 670 Arabia, if you didnt assert a religious calling, you couldnt be considered a leader. Period. Muhammad's story is to real-life (savage) to be made up by some later poetic fairy tale writer making up a religion. Someone making-up a Prophet would be more likely to make him sound miraculous and magical.

Consider the story of the Quran. Muhammad recieved it over twenty-plus years, exactly how we would expect a warlord to make-up his rules. Most people get some kind of new idea or ephiphany daily or weekly. The story of the Quran functions perfectly within normal human experience and is exactly how you would imagine Muhammad to slowly construct and justify his rules.

If Muhammad had simply come down from a mountain with a big book of rules, being the ignorant warlord he was, we would either dismiss the story as being totally made up, or we would call it a miracle and believe as sheep.

The Quran story does appear to be based on a real account from a man who codified his war-ethics and tribialism.

Muhammad needed to claim he was speaking to God's angel and was his final Prophet in order for people, of his day, to accept his leadership.

Yes, you have it all pretty well.
It was not a system created in one move. It took the originators a while to get the rules into working order.
I think the team that Mohammad had deserves more respect than they get. They had to add to and refine the basic doctrine.
It is impressive how quickly they got their Social Operating System up and running. The fact that they borrowed heavily from the last operating systems in the area (Judaism especially, plus a bit of Jesus) should not detract from that accomplishment.
Programs always need tweaking once they are released.

The problem now is that there has been very little tech support or maintaining of Islam or any of the operating systems like it. They are in effect 1400 to 3000 year old OS.
The result is that trying to reinstate it is like trying to run a modern computer on C instead of C++ or anything newer. Not gonna work well. The problem is for Muslims, Christians and Jews. The current Operating Systems might be broken and unable to deal with recent changes. The patches are weak and clumsy with far to much empty code.
But going back to those religions is not the answer either. You don't fix W98 by installing W95 instead.
No, the current problem is how to get a new operating system. Unfortunately nobody seems to have a clue what they would like it to do.
wish us all luck.

The Torah and the Gospels had become perverted by human activity when the Qu'ran was delivered through the prophet Mohammad. This was the purpose of the revelation of the Gospels through Jesus. God had seen that the Torah had been modified to lead the Muslims (a generic term for people of God) astray. Jesus delivered the second of the holy books the Gospels. The power of the Gospels challenged the Roman empire immediately so in a true Machiavellian move the Romans hijacked the Gospels a rewrote them to consolidate their power into the Holy Roman Empire. The Qu'ran is the last of the three holy books and spells out plainly the instructions of God to walk the right path. It has been protected by God up until this final age when it has also been "hijacked" by modern extremists. This is clearly a sign that the end of this modern (since Noah) human age is near. Beware to walk the right path and seek the grace of the One True God.

Having the Quran revealed over his lifetime helped alot in solving many problems. Quran helped prophet Muhammed to:

1- Marry his adopted son's wife
2- Not spending any time with his aged wife (after he married an 9-year old new wife)
3- Clearing the name of his 9-year old new wife when people said she had an affair with another guy
4- Allowing him to marry as many women as he wish (11 wives at a time)
5- Accepting loots taken from peacful merchants

Just too many to mention. How could he do all the above if the Quran was revealed in one shot?

Muhammad made things up as he went along to suit his purpose. He stole bits and pieces from Judaism and Christianity, but had to change things to make allowances for his own needs. You are not supposed to commit adultery. How can you have sex with a married slave without committing adultery? Muhammad would have a seizure and a new revelation from allah that says it's ok. He saw his stepson's wife and wanted her so he said allah says it's ok. Divorce her and let me marry her.

The man was cunning and manipulative. His men loved what allah let them do because they were savages.

May God Bless you.

The Qur’an was revealed in the course of the 23 years of the prophetic career of Muhammad (pbuh), in accordance with the requirements of the particular contexts that called for divine guidance in certain issues. For this reason, in order to arrive at the correct understanding of many of its verses, we need to know the circumstances in which these verses were revealed. That is why the foundation of the religion of Islam is not just the Qur’an; but it includes the sayings and the example of the messenger, as well. This also means that the best interpreter of the Qur’an is the prophet, to whom the verses were actually revealed.

i see ur Questions are just an opppurtunity to insult the propeht and not to understand , so ,hide that igno**nce he isnot neithera poet nor a warlord.....

My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular level."
(Michael H. Hart, THE 100: A RANKING OF THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS IN HISTORY, New York: Hart Publishing Company, Inc., 1978, p. 33.)

Thomas Carlyle in his (Heroes and Heroworship), was simply amazed as to:
"how one man single-handedly, could weld warring tribes and wandering Bedouins into a most powerful and civilized nation in less than two decades."

Lamartine says:
Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?"
Lamartine, HISTOIRE DE LA TURQUIE, Paris, 1854, Vol. II, pp. 276-277.

and i have more for manuy famous ppl who speaks about the prophet with respect .

someone hasn't been reading up on his history.....

The Qur'an was said to be revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pboh) over the course of twenty years....as it was revealed to him, it was recorded. Hence the reason Muslims call the Qur'an the words of God (Allah) rather than the words of the Prophet.

The words of the prophet are in the Hadiths (spoken words of the prophet).

Some could claim that because Jesus did not preach all at one time, but over the course of several years...that it should be dismissed. I doubt you agree with it when it turns on another religion.

Actually read what's in the Qur'an, the Bible and the Torah. Your eyes will be open....

Different revelations were sent down for different reasons. For example:
Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: "Musaykah, a slave-girl of some Ansari, came and said: My master forces me to commit fornication. Thereupon the following verse was revealed: "But force not your maids to prostitution (when they desire chastity). (24:33)" (Translation of Sunan Abu Dawud, Divorce (Kitab Al-Talaq), Book 12, Number 2304)"

Its sad that you think the disrespectful answers are funny.

1st Mohamed (PBUH) was not a warlord, he was a merchant.
2nd Quran came down in 20+ years because Mohamed (PBUH) remembered the whole book by heart while the angel Gabriel was delivering it to him.
3rd God (Allah) wanted people to understand the religion not just believe it like a miracle and when something happens just leave it.
4th God ( Allah) has presented us with many Miracles as with the moon splitting in 2 and them winning a war with just 300 people against thousands.

because during his time, most of the arabs were pagan arabs who were still worshipping statues, killing freely their infant daughters, enjoying wine, free sex and gambling as their will. so it wont be easy to just appear in a blink and teaches all the new stuff. God didnt want them to feel difficult to learn the Quran, so He sent word by word, according to event that happened during that time. in time, Muhammad can teach his followers one by one, and that way is much easier to memorize the new things and embraced them fully..
