The word is dilate & the black bit in the centre of your eye is your pupil. Pupils can dilate to let in more light when it gets dark, when you've taken drugs or when you're looking at someone you fancy. Opticians can put drops in your eyes to dilate the pupils so they can look into your eyes more easily. If they don't dilate properly, you may have a problem.

Dilate is the proper term. It is used to describe the opening and closing of the pupil ( the black part in the middle) When you need more light to see the pupils open up to let in that light. When it is too bright the pupils constrict to block out the excessive light... Danny

In humans and many animals (but few fish), the size of the PUPIL (dark inner circle) is controlled by involuntary CONSTRICTION and DILATION of the IRIS (colorful circle around the pupil) in order to regulate the intensity of light entering the eye. This is known as the pupillary reflex.

Dilate, is when the pupils get bigger (the black bit of your eye.)

Dilute, is as to when you add water to squash/juice. You dilute the concentrate.

It's Dilate, The Pupil expands (the black bit) and covers over part or almost all of the Iris (the coloured bit):)

It's dilate and it's the black bit in the middle. When you turn the lights off, they grow bigger. When you switch the light on again the shrink. Try it in front of the mirror. You send yourself insane trying to catch that momen....
