A wedding isn't exactly the place for games, so what else can you do to make it fun? (Assume that people won't want to dance) Thanks!

The DJ I had at my wedding was excellant and made the recpetion so much fun for everyone. Its the DJ's job to keep the pace going and keep people involved and having a good time. i say: check with your DJ and see what things he does to make the reception fun. My husband and I are lucky enough to have wonderfully funny friends who did a few things along with the DJ to keep things interesting. As far as the ceremony, we kept ours light and not too formal... my 21 month old son was suppose to be the ring bearer and walk down th eisle with my sister (he did it perfectly at the rehearsal) but ended up taking off and after handing his pillow to a random guest, ran around the chairs being chased by two of my sisters. i couldnt see any of this but I heard people chuckling - I had been worried up till that point about things going wrong but I realized then that I needed to lighten up and let things happen.. Thats probably the best way to think on your wedding day to allow yourself to have a really good time.

Also, allow other people at the reception to make toast after allowing the best man and maid of honor. We had some interesting toast along with a friend who, since my husband didnt have a traditional bachelors party, decided to tke him to the dance floor and dance for him.. it was pretty funny!

make sure to go to each table for at least a few minutes as part of your plans for the evening and do lots of silly wedding things like the removing of the garter most people get a good laugh from that and a friend of mine made a suggestion box on each table of things to remember ,comments ,how did u make it so long ,what to do when things are bad (box) and had people write down ideas for that and put in the box for you to look at in the hard times ,,and make sure each table has a disposable camera to take pictures so they can click away and leave it on the table or give it to you before they leave, have people tell funny things that happened on there wedding day ,but most of all don't worry to much they will be OK so just have fun

Sorry, but I agree with some of the others. The bridesmaids in converse and the guys in Nikes? Well, OK, but how is that going to make ME, as a guest, have more fun? Thriller....if you want to go right ahead! As someone else said, it's the food, company, dancing, etc. that make me have fun at a wedding. What someone is wearing or what they dance to does NOT make me have more fun. Just mingle and chat with your guests. Show them that you are happy they are there. That is what matters.

you can have a place off in corner at the reception gated off decorated and have a karoke machine and video camera thats fun my sis did that it not only gave the non dancers something to do but when both of you watch after the wedding it will be hillarious. Also you can have like scavenger hunt like a lady with green dress, a man with a blue tie, someone with red shoes an so on at the end you can give gift.

A couple games I've seen....

The bride and groom sit back to back with a shoe in each hand; one theirs and one their spouse's. The DJ asks questions ("who controls the remote, who's the better cook, who cleans more" etc) and the bride and groom hold up the shoe that corresponds with the answer they feel is right. Pretty funny!

The last wedding I went to had a combination musical chairs/scavenger hunt. One person from each table sat in chairs in the middle of the dance floor. The DJ names and item and each person has to go and find it. (The rules were you couldn't have it on your person, and you had to be completely off the dance floor to collect it.) Someone takes a chair away in each "round." Last person wins.

It is up to the DJ to keep the party rolling. If you think people are not going to be dancing, let the DJ know before hand and hopefully they have a few tricks/games of their own.

I am renting an old fashioned black and white photo booth so guests can take their own photo strip portraits (they give you a disk of all the pics when the event is done) and creating a lounge area near the bar for guests to relax and mingle in an area other then their table.

We are bringing in a portable photo booth...like the ones you see in the mall...then they can get pics taken with our names and the date printed on the pic...plus we get a dvd of all the pictures that are taken...I also thought about bringing in a fortune teller just to see what she would have to say!!!!

Whatever you want, it is your wedding. You could make it as creative as you want or as traditional as you want.
