My cat is prone to constipation...I give her hairball formula crackers (from the pet store or a good supermarket) and they work for her. If it's been a while and your cat is in pain when trying to 'go' you should take him to a vet.

If it has been this long, you need to take the cat to the vet. Since it is night time, you should get some vasaline and put on the cat's paws. The cat will lick off the vasaline and this will help to soften the poop so the cat won't be so painful going to the bathroom. You can also buy Pounce treats (for hairballs) that contain a mild laxative inside. If your kitty is still eating well, this is an option, but you should not give more than 4-5 daily. The vasaline, at this point is probably the best option. Cats hate things on their feet. Just get a little and smear it on the cat's front paws. Do it to both paws. They WILL lick it off.

Vasoline won't help if the cat has been on the different 2 at this ingredient. Does the vet have Enulose? it particularly is noticeably sturdy at getting issues started lower back. The pumpkin (which maximum cats won't consume) holds fiber and water, getting it to the intestines to maintain issues shifting, however the oils drugs do a extra perfect activity. Ask the vet if there's a blockage interior--we went in the process the trauma of loosing one among our cats in December to a tumor starting to be on the backside of her hip bone, it replace into on the threshold of two" long and finally had in simple terms blocked all poop from popping out--they did not understand why till ultimately an post-mortem replace into carried out. An ultrasound might have discovered it, yet they have been treating for each thing however the real reason.

Oils. wet food and olive or vegetable oil mixed in to "ease" things along. Has he been doing #2 much less frequently or smaller quantities? Sounds like the food should be changed back to whatever was working before. If that doesn't help and he's still having problems I would talk to a vet soon! Good luck with your kitty!

You can use Plain Metamusil 1/2 tsp mixed in a bowl of canned food with a little warm water.
Or if you are looking for real natural you can use canned PLAIN pumpkin not the kind with spice for pie, just plain Canned Pumpkin mixed into some canned food.
Or give him plenty of Hairball gel hopefully he likes it maybe try the Tuna Flavored.

My new kitten was just constipated. I talked to the vet tech where we go and she said to put a drop of Caro Syrup (the dark kind) on his tongue and that would get him moving. If its a full grown cat, I suppose you can put two or three drops. Apparently this is what you can do for babies who can't poo either. And if that doesnt work within a few hours, I suggest you visit your own veterianarian. What's wrong with your roommate, anyway?

I suggest you give your cat "hair ball" medication. You can find a tube in pet stores, grocery stores, etc. and follow the directions and this could help your cat and definately wont hurt him. I think any common store bought food is best and stick with dry food mostly. I personally like Purina for urinary tract health. But definately try the "hair ball" medication.

I always give my cat a can of tuna in oil and that helps but it takes a little while to kick in and then it can turn to diarrhea so be careful. changing the food around is not good for the cat either I'd stick to one kind and not buy anything else.

Canned pumpkin is very good for constipation in cats. It gives them a lot of fiber. 1-2 Tablespoons, once or twice a day should help. Good luck.

What the heck are you feeding it? it sounds like something you buy at walmart. you should switch to a holistic food like eagle pack, wellness, or maybe innova. these have all easy to digest meat meals and no by=products and fillers that are horrible to the GI tract. also mix up his new food ( just dump the old crap) with the matching wet food from the company.
