I have been donating my used items to the Goodwill etc. but they turn around and sell the items. I have a ton of childrens clothes and household items that I would like to GIVE AWAY to a deserving family or oganization (without having to go around town to the homeless). Does anyone know of such a place?

Many organizations sell your donated items to raise money for their programs. We donate good clothing and etc. to Veterans programs that come to our door and pick up the items. I believe they too sell the items. The best thing is to look up local places like homeless shelters, battered women and children shelters, where you can give directly to the shelter and know that they will hand out the items. That's your best bet.

most shelters will take donations and they'll get them to those who are most in need. Salvation army sells them, but I know there are two shelters in my city that will take straight up donations

Try a Battered women's shelter, or a homeless shelter. Good Luck!

There is a yahoo! group called freecycle, maybe there is one in your area, everything is free on there and it goes to people who need it. I had a crib and lots of other things given away on there, I wish I had more things to give away on there to the amont of need...it is amazing!
