Hiroshima, by the B-29 Enola Gay (now at the Air and Space Museum in Dulles, VA)

Nagasaki, by the B-29 Bockscar (at the Wright Patterson AFB Museum in Ohio). It should be noted that Nagasaki was not the primary target--Kokura was the main target, but because of weather it was spared and the secondary target of Nagasaki was bombed.

There was a third atomic bomb (the last of the US arsenal) which was also ready to be dropped, but the surrender came before that mission was launched. The bomb was in Utah at the time, and there is great speculation as to what the target would have been for bomb #3 as it would have taken 6 months to a year to build bomb #4. Jabitt III was the B-29 to carry it.

Another interesting, though often unspoken fact (by those who say Japan was finished and the bombing was unjustified) is that after the Japanese decided to surrender, there was an attempted coup by the Japanese military at the Emperor's palace, in an attempt to seize the surrender recordings and continue the war.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Hiroshima was used to actually scare the Japs into surrendering, but Nagasaki was actually used to show how powerful the US has become and was basically a message that told countries to think twice about attacking them (esp. the Soviet Union, which is now Russia). Hope my info helps!
