A blitzkreig invasion or lightning attack is a coordinated attack with bombers, tanks, mechanized infantry, artillery and foot infantry. It is a surprise attack by a force that may not be superior in number but, if done properly, it can be demoralizing to the opponent. Because of the speed of the attack and the disruption of the communications and cutting off of supply lines of the enemy, the attack becomes very effective.

The first Blitzkreig was in September 1940 against the French, English and Belgians at the beginning of WWII.

You almost say that Operation Desert Storm was a Blitzkreig

the blitzkreig is a technique that was used by the Germans during WWII. First, they'd attack with air-raids, then send tanks and people toward their enemy. Usually, by the end of the air raid or tanks, the army was too weak to fight back the Germans. This attack was a really successful one, and i believe the US is using the same one as well...
