Another thing you have to remember is the cost of an animal. We spend about $500 for our dog a year. That is nothing special, just the regular checkups, shots, ear cleaner, tick repellent, heartworm pills. Then even more for food, leashes, collars, bones, treats. Show your responsibility by getting a job to help support your pet. Babysit, mow lawns, shovel, heck....volunteer at the shelter. Some of these might not apply to you, but get creative. If your willing to work to provide for your animal, not only are you more likely to take care of it, but it will show your parents your are serious.

Hi, A puppy takes alot lot lot lot lot of time and energy to take care of. Maybe you could start with something like fish or small lizard. If you show that you can take care of the tank and the feedings your parents will probably believe you are truly willing to take care of a puppy. Good luck.

firts talk to your parentsabout setting up some kind of 2 week plan that could be working around the house or something and agree to do your part everyday and ontime without being told, maybe that might show them you are getting to be more resosible now,, i've raised many dogs and they are not as easy as you think till you actually have one,, one thing to think about is who will watch the dog when you're sleeping at a friends house or something,,

Start out with something small like a fish or a hamster, prove you can take care of it and maybe move up to something bigger like a dog.
You could also ask them if you could dogsit for a while to prove that you'll take care of the dog..

its hard to convince them...maybe you need to start showing your help at home. help your mom in the kitchen, offer your help wherever you can...maybe that will show them how much you really want a puppy and that you want to care for it.
But to be honest...reality check...in the end your Mom will have to feed and walk the puppy, because you will have not such a big interest anymore... how do I know? been there and done it myself and doing it now for my child who wanted a puppy so badly...

I convinced my parents to get many. I always said I'd take care of them...I never did. I don't reccommend getting one. The animal deserves better. Now that I'm on my own I understand how big of a job it is.
I always cried to get my way. :P

How old are you? Puppies are A LOT of work. Get an older dog that is already house trained.

First show that you are responsible. Actions speak a lot louder than words and if they know you are responsible then it should lessen their objections. Most important make sure you follow thru with your promises. Good luck.

what i did was say that if i don't do everything then they can return it. Eventually they either fall in love with it or forget about the deal. Worked for me and my parents adore her.
