Ever looked up Christianity at Wikipedia? There is an enormous amount of information and seemingly limitless links regarding the different sects and beliefs. To think of all the effort expended by the minds of human beings over the ages to make something that doesn't directly benefit the progression of our species one iota. I'm flabbergasted!

Yep.

Christianity by nature has to be complex because it is an attempt to fit stories about Jesus into a Jewish philosophy. This creates contradictions which turn into differing interpretations which turn into denominations which turn into arguments which turn into fights which turn into wars.

Look into history to understand the presesnt. Christianity was not necessary designed to be fundamental...or complex. It is the early church that made it a form of control...but there were many reasons to justify this and had it not been done we might not even have survived this long. One way or the other, I am not a fundamentalist and I see no complexity is faith and belief.

Wiki..is NOT always the best source of information...I learned this by experience when I accepted some answers from them that later research at KNOWN reliable sites proved false. Apparently not all their contributers are knowledable and without bias.

Ok, but that's Wikipedia, not God. Christianity isn't complex. All you have to do is accept Jesus as your personal Savior and invite God into your life. That simple. God has a way of leading us down correct paths when we do that. He can work out all the "junk". We just have to submit.

To be a theologian, there is a tremendous amount of detailed information to learn and understand. However, to be a Christian and be saved only requires a personal relationship with the Lord. Of course, you need to know what God requires of us, but that will come with ease when you are in the Word and in a teaching and praying church.

Well Christianity has so many spin offs, sub-cultures, you might get the idea it is complex but at it's root is,, stay as stupid as you can never question. At least the pagan religions seek enlightenment.
Judaism and muslims retain the culture of Rome and Greece If not in dress then in the rituals of daily life.
Remember we are all born ignorant, we have to work hard to stay that way.

I don't think it is its intended purpose, but it is one reason people find it attractive. The complexity of religion helps it hide the fact that it is really based on nothing. The effort expended might not directly benefit the progression of our species, but it does directly benefit the promotion of religion.

Some people would rather be sheep. What's so complex about loving your enemy? Or honoring your parents? Or even tell the truth? What makes things worse is that some people don't even bother to take time to understand it for themselves. They just "Rely on what other esteemed people say." Truth will not come to you, therefore you must go to it. Even if the masses are against you.

Religion was a product for the illiterate to view going on behind a wooden screen for its first 1300 years of worship.

when they started placing the bible into languages other than Latin it took 300 years for folks to actually realise what a load of trip had been inserted into the bible, so they tried to reform it, leading to the separation and beginnings of different cults in the 1600's

There is nothing complex about it, in fact most people are looking to make it complex when it is as simplistic as it can be. The wicked are always flabbergasted.

It would be better to read the Bible to find out about Christianity instead of Wilkipedia. You can read the encyclopedia to find out about the various religions that use the name Christian, but read the Bible to find out about real Christianity.

first of all wikipidia as a source..wow! second life is simple and we have been complicating it far before religion started...i think that religion is like law, it gives structure but for a higher purpose.
