I was at a resturant yesterday with 2 friends, and when i went to go pay, i told the guy (whom was also our waiter) to keep the change...but he wouldn't. My friend paid before me and she told him to keep her change for a tip.
Was he confused? I'm just wondering why he wouldn't take any tip from me? I mean i ate at the resturant, i was going to tip him.
*it was a mexican resturant if that makes any difference*

No, it being a Mexican restuarant wouldn't make any difference. Sometimes servers aren't allowed to simply "keep the change"; they might be required to give the change back to you and let you leave the change on the table, in their jar, etc. This clears them of any possible blame of cheating customers from their change, or short-changing them.
I don't know why he took your friend's tip and not yours - maybe she was generous and he thought she was tipping for the whole table?
Don't worry about it, just tip again the next time you eat there.

I'm not sure...but when I was in Germany recently...we left a tip on the table at a Greek resteraunt and the waiter came running out, waving it...yelling "Monies on table! Monies on table!" He had NO idea we left it for him until we explained.

He's such an ungrateful bastard, REGARDLESS of what race he is! If he was Black like me and did the same thing, I'd think he was an ungrateful bastard! If he was White and did the same thing, I'd think he was an ungrateful bastard! People like that are a$$holes!

I dont think your allowed to keep changes as a tip in a restaurant. How come you didnt tip him separately?
