I got mine at 19 as a bday present to myself because I've wanted a tattoo since I was 10. LOL! It's a small (2") fully bloomed red rose on my right shoulderblade. I got it because my name is Rose. My philosophy is to only get one w/ meaning that I won't regret when I'm 75 years old. I have ideas for more tattoos & all have special meanings.
My next ones to get:
*A heart w/ a little bit of tribal coming off it & either 1 giant music note or a bunch of small notes in the center of the heart (music is my life!)
*A set of handprints w/ the names & birthdates of my 1 year old niece & other soon-to-be niece/nephew (after it's born of course) & then will add if my sisters have any more children
*When I have children of my own I'm going to get a set of tiny footprints with their names & birthdates listed around or underneath.
I have to be choosy about the placing of any tattoo of course because they have to be hidden for work. (darn!)

My first one was a black outline of a heart with the name Mike in the middle, slightly bigger than a quarter, on my upper right chest area. A friend of mine that had a few tatts took me to his guys house which is where he did tatts at, it really wasnt very good either. A few years later Mike and I broke up, I had the heart filled in with black and purple wings added, the same friend took me to this tattoo studio he had been going too, the work was not bad. Another yr and a half later Mike and I got married, LOL! 10yrs strong now. Just last year I had "Michael" tattooed on my shoulder. And the friend that took me, he now owns his own shop, and I wouldnt go anywhere else to get my ink done!

I got two tattoos at the first go. I had 2 stars on my sort of rear/waist area, so it could be seen over the edge of my jeans, and I had a hebrew word for life on my shoulder.
Why did I do it, because it seemed like something that was right for me. I had seen someone with the stars and really like the look, and as far as the "symbol" for life, I felt that it would bring me good luck. I put both in places that would show if I wanted them to, or could easily be hidden if I chose.

unfortunately my first tattoo was done on spur of the moment, its a red rose with tribal art and my initial, I don't like it and it didn't turn out all that well but I still continued to get more, actually in may or June that tattoo will be covered up,I always tell people I know who think that they want to get a tattoo to do their research not to just run out and get one there are way to many bad artists out there

I got my very first tattoo at age 22. It is a tribal with a rose going through the center of it. I have it on my right calf. To me it symbolized my independence and my right to live my life the way I wanted to and not the way my family wanted me to. I love it and am very proud to have it today at age 32.

My best friend and i have matching tattoo's on my right hip is the symbol for Faith and on my left is the symbol for hope. She has the same tattoo's on opposite sides so whenever we stand side by side our tattoo's match. The reasoning for this :: we have been through so much, boyfriends, husbands, kids etc. That we had to remember to keep our Faith and to always have Hope. I know lame and corny but it works for us.

lol, I got my very first tattoo when I was like 13? Friend of a friend did it. A panther (yes it's THAT panther that's like everywhere :P) on my back...a teeny tiny one, cos I didn't want my dad to see it. :P
I got it because I've always been fascinated by & wanted tattoos. & I picked the panther because I like 'em, feel like they represented me well & it was the coolest thing he had (out of all the small designs). :P I didn't even know you could get custom drawings done back then. lol. Needless to say it's covered up now. :P

Its on my lower back, black ink...its on my 360 page if you want to see it. I got it because I have had three kids and I have worked hard to keep my body fit and I wanted something I can show off. I want to be one of those 60 year old grandmas that seem like they are 40 when I am older.

my first tattoo was of my name in korean. (my mom was born in korea) it was small and unimpressive. honestly i just hadn't thought very hard about what i actually wanted, really really wanted so i think that was the easiest choice to make. i have since had it covered up and i now have a phenomenal artist who does wonders with ink and skin. you live and you learn (hopefully)
