I don't think the UFC in not a true Martial Art. There is more to the Martial Arts then who's bigger or stronger. Don't get me wrong UFC is ok but it is in know way a true Martial Art. The fighters are not real Martail Artists they are just big men beating the crap out of each outher. That in not what the Martial Arts are about. People just don't see that.

There is more to MMA then who is bigger and stronger, Tim Sylvia is bigger and probably stronger then Randy Couture and this past weekend he lost to him. No one said that UFC or MMA is a true martial art, it is mixed martial arts, a blend of styles in a fight. I think I know what you were trying to say but since you used a double negative which is horrible english you confused everyone. Most of the fighters are extremely skilled in a nuber of different martial arts, just because they do not stick to one style does not make them"true" martial artists. You probably have only seen a small sample of fights and have not seen the fights that blend from kick boxing to wrestling to jui jitsu and numerous other fight styles. Do your homework, learn english then watch some true MMA fights and see what it is really about.

Ok, first off UFC is not a true martial art because there is no specific martial art called "UFC".

Rather the arts in the UFC and the concept of MMA in particular are true martial arts. The way they are applied in the UFC or any other MMA competition are true martial arts.

if you are a martial artist- you must know how to fight. otherwise you are not a martial artist you are a performance artist.

most fights are "big men beating each other up" both in and out of competitions, If I had to draw a graph of technique vs. stregth, the amount of technique required to deal with increases in weight (stregth/size) beyond a certain point would spike. You need that much more technique to deal with a stronger, bigger person the bigger the size/stregth gap.

People always say "yeah, but i could do x" but the real question is CAN you.

The only scenario where fights are not that- are with weapons involved.

quite frankly you need more explanation as to why "the arts in UFC" are not true martial arts or are not applied as such in the UFC.

If you don't see them- then either:

a- you have not sparred even light contact in unarmed (obviously you have sparred in kendo and haven't been "jumping men" for the whole time or you would have left- no it is not what it reads like thats why its in quotes); or

b- you have not watched a ufc fight.

Martial arts are all about men beating the crap out of each other (except mud-wrestling which is about women rolling around trying to rip off each other's clothes), they use technique to do it.

If you think technique comes out "clean" all the time- then I suggest you watch some sparring videos. If you expect yours to come out clean all the time- then I suggest you try it against a resisting opponent.

You will see things differently.

This is a typical excuse used by fighters and gyms who don't fight and want to simply discredit MMA competitions with the reasoning that "well that is not real martial arts and they are just beating the crap out of each other".

Guess what- if that were the case, why the hell doesn't a "real martial artist" from that school (that made the excuse) go kick thier *** and dominate the way the gracies used to or the way michael moore dominates a box of oreos?

Simply because they can't.

Not all schools are going to have an MMA champ- but to the ones who discount it as bieng "not fighting". How do you explain that?

If it is just unskilled bruisers whailing away, why can't you get someone to fight- size isn't a huge factor as there are weight classes?

If you can't deal with a roughly the same-size guy coming at you full force and contact that is supposedly "untrained" under limiting conditions, how do you expect to do it on the street where there are no rules and NO WEIGHT CLASSES.

And before you give that "I KAN pokE your nOze hares Out With my tow" guess what- so can the other guy and his toe might be twice as smelly and funky as yours.

The actual concept of art is to strive for a thing of beauty, MMA is not Beautiful at all.
It is Not Martial Arts, it is only the fighting concept that is within Martial Arts as is Buddhism yet I have no Buddhists fighting in the UFC
It is Martial Fighting at it's best True
But Not Martial Arts as a precept to what it stands for.
Kinda like calling all Martial Arts Karate
I might add BJJ is only a small part of Samurai Arts. No Sword play, no Bushido code etc etc, that was the art, now it is refined as a means of fighting not as an art form.
Martial Fighting is Not Martial Arts
It is as it is
Awesome and devastating, but not for everyone
the toughest can enjoy simple tai chi as could the weakest., try that with MMA the little weak guy will be the Bitc............ ya know

Very short and sweet. No the UFC is not a martial art. It stands for Ultimate Fighting Championship. The fighters who compete in that organization or league however, are well versed in martial arts and display their skills every night if you've ever watched a match.

yeah ufc isn't martial arts in its true form but they do train in martial arts. the ufc is more than just muscling the other person around its trying to cause the most pain and harm the fastest.

UFC is not a martial art...it is a sport that has contestants who have studied some martial arts, usually many different styles.

let's get this straight. ufc fighters ARE true martial artists. they spend a great deal of their time training in their striking and grappling skills. in the past, many traditionalists have entered the ufc to test their skill levels. this is what traditionalists did in the past to test their skill levels, btw.

anyway, they tested their skill levels, and it turned out that brazillian jiujutsu (a modified version of judo) had dominated the cage. It also turned out that as far as striking went, muay thai was a very effective martial art, hence why people adapted it into their training.

yea, they don't look like true martial artists, i understand. this is because they are under resistance from the opponent. most traditionalists look like "true martial artists" because they are given no resistance and all the time in the world to practice their "deadly" skill set that they have never killed anyone with, and that they don't know if they can kill anyone with, even when their lives are threatened.

as far as them all being "big guys," there are weight classes. look at genki sudo and kid yamamoto (although i think they're from pride and k1). they are exceptional martial artists, exceptional MIXED martial artists if i may add. they weight less than 170 pounds each.

as for UFC being a true martial art, OF COURSE it isn't a true martial art. that's like asking if NBA is a true basketball move.

Do you think martial art should be like jaky chans films. It wouldn't happen in a real fight.UFC made just an stage for mixed martial arist in that even your real martial artist who jumps swings as in the film can also compete.

well tbh there are a few rules separating ufc with a marital arts fight for e.g
: no groin attacks
cant do small joints manipulation (akido etc)
cant do attck to the neck area.
so most of the deadly bits of the martial arts cant be used for health and safety reason as u may understand nobody wants to die for a bit of cash :P

noone said it was true martail arts but its true mix martail arts and if you actually watch some of the fights alot of them have nothing to do with how big the person is or strong but how good the person is in what he does.
