Ok, so you live with them. You are either added or excluded. Everyone in the household with a license must be added as a driver, or excluded from the policy. There is no way around that.
The insurance figures you will be driving it alot, not like some other person, say your dads friend or something, and therefore you will need to be added as a driver, or excluded and you would not be covered. So yes, you need to be added as a driver, no way around it.
Sorry, one more thing. You already have your license correct? Have you asked your parents about the insurance? Because if you already have you license, they had to either add or exclude you already. Since you don't know, you are probably excluded.

The funny part is that i would disagree with the others. Cuz i've been driving under my Dad's policy for almost 2 yrs right now. I was intending to add my name under his policy, however, doing that will dramatically rise my dad's insurance premium by 60%.
The State Farm Agent told my dad and i not to add my name until i am 21. Because as a family member, i have the right to drive the car legally and will be covered under his policy. However, if accidents happen, State farm will pay for it.
Altho the premium will rise quite a bit if the accident is a fault of mine. So, it really depends on company, Big insurance company always have better tolerance.
But what he told me is that "family member lives in the same household has the right to drive ur car legally. however, you friend can not."

RE Can I drive my parents' car without having my name added to the insurance list in the same city?
I would but it would probably increase the rate. So, can I just carry their insurance papers along with my license?

When your parents take out insurance they re allowed to nominate another driver/s.The person/s must hold a current licence. This would be less than you'd be able to purchase for the same cover.Once you are ins, that cover will do for you the same as your parents.IE anywhere.or as though they were driving the vehicle.Talk with mum & dad and get them to add you to thier policy. It'll be cheaper and give them peace of mind and yourself more cover and satisfaction

The coverage follows the automobile, not the motive force, so in case you have been to be pulled over, the police might choose an coverage card that matched the automobile. in case you have a learner's enable, you do not present day a separate danger. terrific to call the coverage corporation you're with, yet I actual have by no potential encountered one that demands a authorized motive force to be rated on the coverage. in case you have a license, you're able to be able to desire to be further and rated on the coverage. as far because of fact the police care, as long as there is coverage on the vehicle, everyone who happens to be making use of it (different than a automobile thief, of direction) may be legally insured.
