I have never been prejudice before and just today, I've had feeling come thru me that are horrible. I'm a 35-year-old single mother of two, I'm a Veteran, and I'm employed full time. Therefore, I want to go back to school to get my bachelor degree in Human Services. I've applied to the school, I'm ready for classes and I'm looking for scholarships or grants on the FAFSA website. I plug in all my data about myself from my sexuality to my hobbies, I get 223 pages of scholarships, and I'm like wow! Nevertheless, I'm now on page 22 out of 223 and so far I have to be; "a child of employees of direct member companies belonging to the Automotive Recyclers Association.” "must have at least 1/4 degree Indian blood from a federally recognized tribe." or "be an African-American, Hispanic/Latino, or Native American" or be current member of the NAACP and must not have reached the age of 25 by the application deadline"
What happened to a basic scholarship or grants? Any suggestions to other website

There are several scholarships for women and for veterans.
There are also basic academic scholarships. There are also plenty of scholarships for non-traditional students (bascially that is the verbage for older or parent).

You can go to your local college/univeristy. They will most likely have a Women's center & a Nontraditional Student center. They should have scholarship information for you.

Keep in mind too that some scholarships you don't have to meet the criteria, it is more of a lottery.

www.fastweb.com (probably the one you already used)

(just type in scholarships + women in google)

General Scholarships:

For the last two categories, it is usually per college. So go to the college website you are looking into attending and look at their college scholarships.

Hope this helps!

What about a veterans' scholarship? I know when I was going through the college application process there weren't many options for me either.

I think I found an essay writing scholarship. I wrote a good essay and got a little bit of assistance. Not by much, though.

I know the feeling,
do have the GI bill?
did you have some college courses in the service?
Some schools won't appect any college credits earned while in serving your country, Check with Old Dominion college and The University of Texas , they cater to Veterans.
I'm sorry for going off the track,,,but that happen to my brother,so

Apply for the Pell grant.
and there is also a displaced homemarker grant...
here is a link that my brother had used.

Do a web search for "women scholarship" and "veteran scholarship" there are plenty. Go to raisethenation.org, that is for single mothers. Also so a "Human services scholarship" search. i think what you need is a lesson on web searches.

Go to fastweb.com
