According to Christian faith if God were evil then that Being would not be God. The Scriptures teach that in God there is no evil. God is perfectly good.
As to why God allows war, the others have said it. God gives human beings free will. We can choose to use it for good or for evil.
By the way, we all agree that war is terrible. War happens because we are sinful people who do terrible things. That is why the Bible says all of us have sinned and fallen short of God's best.
I have heard it said that "one man's war is another man's fight for freedom and justice," and I do believe there is some truth to that.

When you ask a question premised on an assumption that is false, any answer you get will be as false as the question was in the first place.
That said, god is so evil because human beings invented him and human beings are "evil" if by "evil" you mean warlike. Now the Roman gods have a better explanation: Men are from Mars, women are from Venus.

This God created evil! Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
God also has an evil spirit. 1 Samuel 16:14 and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.
This God also kills children, approves of rape, and much much more.
This God is evil because he can be. After all i've heard countless Christians say God can do anything God wants because God is God. Not realizing that this is a might makes right philosophy!

Saying God is evil because he allows war is along the lines of victim mentality. It's not my fault because someone did something terrible so I'm going to blame someone else. God has offered ways to live with others but if people covet what others have and allow jealousy and bitterness to color their thinking, is that God's fault? Would you rather live under a God who makes you walk around like a robot or a puppet? Free will offers us the opportunity to choose our actions. If people choose poorly why is that God's fault. The fact that God expects us to be responsible for our actions despite what others do means he respects our personhood.

Its a matter of perspective.
An atheist will tell you- he doesn't exist, so you are blaming an imaginary thing for for events that are our own faults.
A christian will tell you that God doesn't do the bad thigns- he allows them to happen because it's part of his grand design or because we have to be tested and go through trials.
A satanist will tell you that the entire bible is full of proof that indeed God is evil. (try actually reading about satanism before making ignorant statements about it).
A pagan or wiccan will tell you that its our own inaction and bad choices that create the evil in our world. Because there is no god or satan.
Myself- I'm a wiccan. I say God isn't evil. Because there is no God. The evil in our world is our own creation.

What does the Tooth Fairy want with all those teeth?
Where is the Easter Bunny stealing all those eggs?
Who wins in a fight between the Incredible Hulk and Superman?
These are the great questions of life that frankly never cross my mind.
Humans make war. Humans can stop making war. No god needed.

If you can end all the evil, wars, murder, rape, etc but in doing so you would have to end mans ability to choose would you do it?
You dont have to answer the question, God has!, He has picked Free Will. Evil doesnt come from God but is the result of peoples choices. Free will is more valuable to God than the absence of evil. Unless God denies us our freedom of choice evil will ALWAYS exist. Ending humanity the way we know it would be much more cruel than ending all the evil the world CHOOSES to do.

The God of Mount Sinai is evil, The God of Moses is Evil, If you believe in the 10 Commandments then you to believe in the evil God.
The 3 temptations of Jesus show the Evil God of Moses, and look where he dwells. Now read John 4:22. and John 3:14, also John 1:17, John 10:7, and John 6:32.
If you follow through and read these passages I gave you, you will see for your own eyes, Then ask your pastor what do John 3:14 means, he will deceive you, you know who the serpent is.

God allows free will just like what you just did. If He was evil - you will already be in the lake of fire.
It is men who were given free will that started wars. But, if you believe in His ultimate goodness - you will end up in a place where God's love governs - and there will be no more wars.

God allowed many evil things. Like free will, for example. Why blame God for our shortcomings? There's so many better reasons to be upset with him.
