Make sure you feed three times a day. Puppies need more food than adult dogs. Also I suggest you research dogfood. Most dog food is very bad, usually the main ingredient consisting of cornmeal. The first ingredient in a dog food should be a meat meal. With the word meal behind it it means that the meat is in it's dehydrated form. 2 meat meals as the first ingredient in a dogfood is good to start. Remember dogs are carnivores. I suggest looking at premium dog foods, Science Diet, Purina, Eukanuba, are NOT premium dogs foods, they are very bad. I would look into Timberwolf Organics, Canidae,Merrick, Wellness,Nature's Variety. These are top of the line dog foods. You do not have to feed as much with these foods as well. Canidae is for puppies, adult dogs and seinor dogs. Canidae all life stages is awsome, get it. Try 2 cups in the morning 2 cups at lunch and 2 cups in the evening.

You mentioned that you probably feed her more than you should for her weight, but you can still see her ribs... That's a bit confusing to me...
Anyway, I see nothing wrong with feeding a six month old puppy two or even three times a day. Feed her a good quality food (nothing off-brand). If you're in doubt about her weight and health, ask your vet. The vet should be able to recommend what to feed, how much to feed and how often, and set some goals for her weight.
She should also be getting shots, wormings, and checkups with the vet. The first thing I would probably do would make sure she doesn't have worms and isn't sick, because this can cause her to not gain weight. Also, remember that seeing an outline or a small amount of ribs isn't necessarily unhealthy. Again, if you are unsure about anything relating to your dog, ask your vet.

Some dogs naturally have a fast metabolism so wont gain weight easily. Try feeding her 3 times a day. Dont feed her less or more per feed just add a feed to her day. Also try adding a raw egg once a day. Go to a chemist and ask for a vitamin and iron supplement fot kids thats designed to increase their appetite. Theres one called 'Incremen'. What are you feeding her? Dont give her canned food, try her on a meat roll type dog food eg protapak. Some dogs just wont gain weight but the correct weight for her age is usually a bit more than most people realise. Its alright for a dog that size to be about 10-15lbs underweight, but for them to be over by 10-15lbs isnt so good. As long as she hasnt got worms or anything else and she is an energetic, happy dog, dont worry, my dobes are both considered underweight, one is sick and the other is healthy. Also she is still growing and if she is still skinny in a year then i would worry.

She could have worms. Some types of worms prevent a dog from gaining weight.
Also 2 times a day is normal for young dogs. You might even try to feed her 3 times a day. I fed my pup 3 times a day until he was 1 year old and then put him to 2 times a day. It kept him healthy.
You may also have food that is no nutritious enough. Try to put her on purina puppy chow or pedigree puppy chow.

are they showing a lot or a little? if just a little that's ok. just make sure that it is a good quality dog food that you are feeding. not one of the cheap brands. ask your vet if he or she thinks your dog is at the correct weight.

She is still very young, however, I would definately have her stool checked for parasites, they can cause your pet problems. Good Luck.
