I saw the news reports about the conditions at that VA hospital. What an embarrasment. As a healthcare professional I've seen and heard about cases of our veterans getting substandard care for years. Whether we agree with the war or not these guys deserve the best care money can buy for putting their lives on the line for us.

Your best source will be to go out and talk to some of them.

This isn't about partisan differences or liberal or conservative views. It's about appreciation and doing what's right by our military veterans. We hear about the deaths, but what about the suffering of the ones who made it home? As for the hospitals and people doing right & the best they can, I applaude them, but like someone mentioned, that hospital didn't get like that overnight which is why it's such a shame. I do appreciate our veterans very much and I just wonder how the conditions are at all the other facilities in the country.

FYI, I respect the office of the presidency therefore I'm not a Bush or Clinton basher. I'm just a regular citizen but I just don't think they had evidence the war in Iraq was justified. On the other hand, it bothers me that our leaders were so complacent and let terrorists get away with bombing our embassies in Africa & The USS Cole in Yemen like what happened in the Clinton adminstration. But this question is not about that, it's about how we treat our veterans after our politicians send them somewhere to get blown up for us to enjoy this nice life we enjoy here.

OK, let's get things straight. You read what? A liberal article? Liberal news media are some of the worst rumor and liars on the planet. They only tell you what THEY want you to know and as proof, the VA hospital I go to is one of the finest hospitals I've ever been in and I've worked in three different hospitals in my life. They are super nice to the veterans and they are spotless. I never have to wait long for them to see me and they bend over backwards to help me.

Don't believe everything your read especially when it comes to the liberal news.

I agree, it's a disgusting shame, but my question is, why is this issue just now coming to light? Walter Reed (the VA hospital causing all the commotion right now) did not get into that deplorable condition over night (nor do any other facilities that care for our veterans). The place looked like it had been going down hill for decades, but no one raised a stink until just now?

I don't understand how, even if the bad conditions have been going on for years, the mess with the VA hospitals / Care could be a fault of liberals. In case you haven't noticed THE REPUBLICANS have been in charge for about 12 years now of the house and senate. AND APPARENTLY the past 6 years when they had TOTAL charge of everything they did nothing to fix the problems. HOW THEN can it be the fault of liberals?

This is not new. I was wounded in Viet Nam, and the hospital they sent me to was a disgrace. Too few doctors, too few nurses, the floors often went a week or two without anyone mopping, and meds were quite often very late. Now, I'm retired after nearly 34 years of military (and 12 years of active duty). I find that I cannot go to a base hospital because they dont have facilities for us retirees. I can't go to a veteran's hospital because they don't have funding for anyone who is not more than 20% disabled. It's not democrats or republicans, or liberals and conservatives, it's the simple fact that our leaders, congressmen and senators, consider themselves too important to ever actually serve in the military, so to them, we are just their hired gunslingers, and easily replaced by another unimportant person. So we have miserable care. Who cares. To them, we obviously should have died in combat and saved them the money and effort.

I'm no fan of the VA, but, as a medically discharged Vet, I can say that the VARO/VARHosp, here in Atlanta is pretty darned good. They have doctors and interns from Emory University, a top medical school in the Nation, and the CDC has a few offices there, as well. I've never received poor care from the VA, and I was discharged from duty in 1992.

It really bothers me when I see how some Veterans are treated and the condition of some of the medical facilities. It bothers me more to see dead beats, dangerous criminals and illegal aliens getting better care than those who people who gave a lot for their country.

I know what your talking about it crazy to see everyone get all upset over this and they never stop to think how they would feel if they walked a mile in our troops shoes.

The liberals give all the tax money to deadbeats who don't want to work, not our heroes who come home wounded.
