I have been taking Efexxor for about 9 months now and it really helps my moods. The problem is that my husband got laid off and now our new insurance doesn't cover pre-existing conditions such as depression, which means they won't pay for the efexxor anymore! Does anyone know of a generic brand efexxor or any meds similar to this medication? Efexxor without insurance is like $130 for 30 pills without insurance. We can't afford that. Not being on it isn't an option

You need to call your state's dept of behavioral health or mental health or whatever your state happens to call it. They can tell you if there are any programs you qualify for, and what agencies can help you.

I don't know if you would qualify financially or whatnot, but perhaps you can find out from the manufacturer of Effexor if they have some type of discount program for those that really need it. It's not a guarantee as I'm not sure if the person has to be below a certain household income, but at least one can look into it. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help. I personally take the ssri antidepressant, Prozac Weekly, and it helps me a great deal though everyone's body chemistry is different.

I would caution you though if thinking about buying medication from online as it may not be the real thing or such.

I also take effexor ask your Dr what would be the closet to the effexor for you. Paxil is also good. Never tell a new insurance of a pre-existing problem then they will pay for what you need. Get something soon so you aren't off your medication.

Buying Effexor on line, or other meds, for that matter, is cheaper.
Do a search for Effexor and you'll find company's to buy it from. Also ask your DR. for samples. My Dr. use to give me samples when I couldn't afford a med. They can get samples and sometimes can keep you on samples. I was on Effexor for a long time. I am on wellbutrin and cymbaltin now. I do understand not wanting to change meds. When we find one that works, you hate to change.
