yes , there is no reason a bi polar person cannot marry. a bi polar person can function quite well, if the symptoms are under controll with medications. just because a person is bi polar, does not mean they have lost their intellect, and can be very smart. the only thing a bi polar person has to consider, is the fact that bi polar illness is genetic, having children, means that there is a chance that the children may be bi polar. i have seen couples that are bi polar, or one is bi polar, and have children born to them that also are bi polar. that is for you to decide, and you might want to seek some professional advice from your doctor , before you decide to have children.. good luck, hope this helps you

I'm married and I have bipolar pretty severely (bad depressions) I take meds and go to counseling and support groups. My husband tells me he is so happy to be with me and it it totally worth it even though there are bad times, too. The marriage helps me keep stable (on a schedule, support in everyday tasks when I slump really bad). We do all kinds of things together-have a lot of the same interests. I bet we argue less than most couples, but we've only been married 3 years. He goes and sees my counselor with me once in awhile so we can work as a team. And in case you think he is taking care of me (codependent kind of thing), I take care of him, too. He has diabetes and I watch how he eats and he has serious vision impairment, so I do the driving and the bill paying and the tax stuff etc.
So I think bipolar is a serious stressor on a marriage like any major disability. there will be financial strain, sickness, despair, etc. But geez, there are people out there who are just jerks, too. If you are a basically nice person, and can apologize when you act out because of your illness, and you will take care of the illness, there is no reason not to get married.

Yes. My dad is bipolar and he is married to my mom. And has been my whole life. But just remeber that the bipolar person should be sure that they don't need to be a raging a hole sometimes! lol

of course they can. they have every right to marry just like everyone else does. their only responsibility is to be aware of their actions and to do what is right. but yes they should beable to marry anyone.

Absolutely.
But make sure that your intended spouse is aware of this. Otherwise you'll be headed for a divorce.
Also be sure that you are getting treatment for it. It wouldn't be fair to your spouse otherwise.
