I have always believed that the Church should vote on accepting an individual as a member prior to baptizing the individual. Our pastor sees it differently. Just wondering what others thought.

Your Pastor is right. I can't even believe you are asking this!!

Did Jesus say..."go into all the world...make disciples of all nations....then - take a vote on them....and then Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost"??

NO! Of course not!!

Joe,
I do not know where you go to church but the Lord's Church never mentions any "vote" on membership in the Lord's Church at all. This is a denominational idea. It is a man-made idea. It is certainly not written in GOD's WORD. Why do people think that they have to add to or take from the Holy Scriptures? There is no need for such things to be done at all. Follow the BIBLE as it is written. That is all we need to determine what we are supposed to be doing. Have a great evening and a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds

This is a faith vs. religion type of question. If they accept Christ, they should be allowed to proclaim it. Therefore, requiring them to become members of an organization set up by mankind, ie your church, before being allowed to accept the divine, is contradictory to Christian teaching. Your pastor seems to understand that salvation of the soul is more important than going through the motions of accepting individuals into a manmade group.

The Pastor is right. You are accepted into a Church by baptism or letter from another Church or profession of Faith and you say that you are confident and satisfied with your previous baptism.

To be baptized means to confess to the world that Jesus is your Lord and Savior. Why would they need to be a member of your church to do that?

Just wondering...

I think that Baptism should be the first act of the believer and joining the church should be the second.

Did they have a vote on the Day of Pentecost? What sort of devil made foolishness is this? Jesus didn't come to save the select few!!! He came to SAVE everyone. You are voting yourself into hell. Start doing what the Bible teaches!!

I think it's rediciolus for you and your church members to be so high and mighty that you feel you have to vote to let someone be a member or not! GOOD THING GOD DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY HUH?

WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE TO JUDGE OTHERS!!! IT'S NOT CHRISTIAN!
