I have Jensen CD2010X replacement radio that i put in a couple of years ago.
Out of the blue, I can't get any reception on FM. The antenna is fine, and there doesn't appear to be anything broken.
I take the face plate out when I park the car. Did I possibly break something? Should I try cleaning the contact points.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I might believe the antenna was a problem, but I think I would still get SOME reception on at least one station with a strong signal. But the static/reception is identical on all the stations.

I'm no electronics expert but I know the basics and as far as I can understand it, it's because the AM frequency uses a different antenna than the FM does. The visible antenna you see on your car is for the FM, not the AM. The AM probably used an internal antenna or part of the car itself. Since that works fine but the FM doesn't, I'd have to assume that the FM antenna on your car is broken, defective, or is not properly connected to your radio.

AM reception relies less on the external antenna than does FM reception. It could be that there is a break in the cable connecting the antenna to the radio, or a short between the antenna and the car body or inside the cable connecting the conductive core with the conductive sheath.
Such problems are easily tested with an ohmmeter. You should get from 0-75 Ohms with a lead connected to the antenna visible from outside the car and the other lead on the center conductor. Too high impedance (including infinite impedance) would mean a break in that center conductor somewhere.
Connecting a lead to the center conductor and the woven conductive sheath should yield infinite impedance.
Connecting a lead to the antenna and the frame of the car should similarly yield infinite impedance.

Sounds like an antenna problem.
AM is amplitude modulated, meaning that as long as the radio has anything out of the antenna, it will work.
FM Frequency modulated, if you antenna connection isn't the greatest, it won't work.
