You are not specifying so I assume that being this your first credit card you have no credit history. If this is the case you can use this information I found at http://creditapply.org/blog/ under the post "How do I get my first credit card". If you are a student you should also check the post "How can a student get a credit card" on the same blog.

Anyway if you want to get a credit card and have no credit history you might have a hard time getting one but here are some tips:

* Start by getting a copy of your credit report How you will be able to proceed depends on what is shown on your credit report. If you don’t have a credit history you will have to take the following extra steps

* Apply first at the bank or credit union where you have a checking or savings account. Most of us have at least a checking account. It may be easiest to get a credit card from the same bank.

* If you can’t get a card from a bank you can build a credit history over several months with a department-store or gasoline card.

* If you need, in order to build good credit history, get a small bank loan, but make sure that your payments are reported to the credit bureaus.

* Don’t shop for several cards at the same time. Apply for only one card at a time because too many requests for credit reports from the banks where you apply can count against you.

* One of the fastest ways to get credit is to apply for a secured card

1. Make sure the card has no annual fee. Call the company toll free and ask for ALL fees that will be charged in the first month. Have them name the fee and tell you the amount. This way, there will be no surprises when your first bill arrives. Compare your results on all the cards you look into. Do NOT apply for a card until you choose the one you really want. Each application causes an inquiry, which temporarily hurts your credit score. You can read about credit scores at myFICO.com (2) Ask the issuing company which of the 3 Credit Reporting Agencies (CRAs) they report to. If they don't say they report to all 3, find another card company. Why? You want to build your credit score with all 3 CRAs, using one card. (3) Looking for actual credit card companies? Try bankrate.com. Look at secured credit cards if you have no credit history at all. If you DO have credit history (student loans, car loan, cell phone contract) and you have a good on-time payment history, try for a non-secured card, one that has rewards that fit your needs. (4) Once you get the card, go to the company's online site and register for online access to your account. (5) Keep your balance on the card at no more than 30% of the credit limit. Pay in full every month. Learn to schedule automatic payments online.

There are certain limitations however on who is eligible for an Instant online credit card approval. Instant approval credit card offers are targeted to - or at least originally meant to be for - people with good credit records. However, there are ways to go around this and sometimes this might be pure luck. What I mean is, sometimes the card company you apply to, may not be able to access your credit records for some reasons. But this is an exception. The competition on the credit market is so high today, that some companies are willing to tow the line pretty far to get customers. The bottom line is that even if your credit history is not so good, you can obtain an instantly approved credit card. So regardless to what your credit rating is, there is no reason not to apply.

If you want to apply for an instant approval of a credit card online, go to the web and search for instant credit card approval an you'll have more than enough websites to choose among, giving you the opportunity to compare the offers from different sites with respect to the cost of credit. Then you will be able to find the best deal. You can get instance approval at: http://www.lowest-apr-cards.com/Guaranteed_Approval.html

Get a rewards credit card:

Reward credit cards reward you depending on the amount you spend on the credit card. Usually, you can collect rewards through 3 methods. One method involves earning cash back on the card, which is generally a certain percentage of each amount you spend. The next method involves giving points or any other type of token to the customers to accrue. They can then redeem these points for gifts like luggage, cosmetics and other goodies that the credit card company offers. Most of these reward schemes have alluring gifts and huge variety of selections. But the better option is to go for a cash back reward as it allows you to use the money any way you like.

If you are student, you should be able to get a no annual fee credit card from any one of the major issuers.

If you are not a student and have no credit history, then you may have to get a secured credit card first, build your credit history before you get offers for regular unsecured credit cards. Below are a couple of places to help.

shop for NO annual fee, longest grace period on purchases, and lowest rate finance charge. Pay your entire outstanding balance every month, if in ANY way possible.

None.

Don't ruin your credit.

Trust me it's so easy to spend the money you don't have, but soooo hard to pay it back, especially with the interest rates they charge.

none. They are evil and if you don't use it wisely, they will ruin your life. I say Capital One and don't use it for small purchases.
