I'm female and 5'10". I have been using mens golf clubs for the last 8 years. My husband thought they would be better since I'm tall. That's what I learned with. Is there really much difference between men's and women's, and should I get a women's set?

If you're being successful and comfortable with men's clubs then I think you're fine. If you would like a newer or nicer set of clubs, the fact that you're comfortable with men's clubs gives you more options in what to shop for.

I'd say that if you learned with men's clubs, the ladies clubs might be unable to keep up with your game.

Go to a clubfitter, a good one like where I work will charge you for a fitting and the price of the clubs will be the same as buying them off the rack unless you go with wicked expensive shafts. The bonus of going this way is your shafts will be the right length, stiffness. The irons will be adjusted for loft and lie to your specs. And the overall process will help you learn alot about what happens during the swing. Being 5 10 for a woman is somewhat tall so i would say that a fitting would be very helpful to your game.

The flex in the shaft is important. Clubs, a standard mens length (I just got fitted0 is for a man 5'10" (found this out because I am 5'10"). if you want to get better, find your shaft flex and your lie angle. These will greatly improve your game.

If you can play with your own clubs and do not want to spend the money, you do not have too. I like new clubs.

You definitely need new clubs. The playability factor of new club technology has improved so much in the past 3 years that you would benefit greatly with control, distance, & miss hits. Womens clubs are lighter for increased club head speed the lofts are more generous to promote getting the ball up easier, the shafts have more flex with a softer tip section to promote more distance & hgher ball flight for slower swing speeds, the grip end of the shaft is smaller in circumfrence allowing for a ladies grip size& weight. Before buying new clubs get a club fitting. It's not expensive and you will only have your swing to worry about

Without your husband around, find an independent club fitter and go get fitted.

I have to agree with the concepts of weight, flex, length and grip size.

Maybe you are fine but then maybe there is something out there that will really suit you. You need to find that out on your own from someone independent (not your hubby) who is not working on a commission.

One of the major differences between mens and ladies clubs is the degree of stiffness in the shafts. Ladies shafts are generally more flexible, to allow for somewhat slower swing speeds, and have smaller grips to compensate for smaller hands. If you are able to hit the ball well and are satisfied with your distance, and are comfortable with your grip, I see no advantage in changing clubs.

i don't think so because if u feel comfortable using men clubs u shouldn't.but if don't feel comfortable try using women clubs. i still suggest u stick with it because u keep on practicing with those clubs that it will take u a long time to learn to use women clubs.

What is your handicap? Do you hit the ball low and block it? Or high and hook it?
