I tried it last night but they kept me awake all night with their bleating in my bedroom.

The point of counting sheep is that it is a pointless and mindnumbingly boring task, that focusses your concentration away from the more interesting and tangled problems of real life, thus allowing your mind to gradually switch off.
HOWEVER, if you put too much effort into counting sheep, then it will become part of the problem, try a hot bath and a warm drink instead - you shouldn't be able to get too involved with those things!
Good luck with the sleeping!

Yes, i have tried it, and it doesn't really work. The best way to do it is to read a book. Or if u cant be bothered to do that,(like me), you should just lie in bed, relax all your joints and just think of blackness/nothing, doesnt matter if you still cant sleep, at most, 2 hours, after that you will fall asleep.

Normally it maybe that something is on ure mind, or uve been sleeping late, in which case, your body wont fall asleep until after a certain time.

lol, yes I've tried it, then I got up and took some benadryl to go to sleep. Sometimes I kind of play out a cartoon in my mind. Its silly and not serious so it doesn't get my mind worrying about things. Plus it sort of kicks off a dream and distracts my mind so I fall to sleep. Doesn't work all the time, but I still use it nightly to try and fall asleep.

Its not just the bleating, its the bloody mess the droppings make on the bedclothes as they jump over the bed....bad idea. Now I just snuggle down and comfy with a book til it falls from my hand.

I count backwards from 1000 to1, but I try to visualise the numbers as street numbers. I usually get asleep at around 800 when i get insomniac.
P.S. you can also try to count animals that don't make disturbing sounds . Rabbits maybe?
