It doesn't need a brain. The seed functions by cell growth, I think. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks.

Chemosynthesis. It has a code of genetic information that has a blue print for growth and as it absorbs nutrients it grows and it is able to move and function in a limited manor. Only when it is cut the nutrients are cut off and it is not able to function anymore. So it does not need a brain.
