ladies, in your opinion does a guy just take it or not?

i have heard some guys say that when a woman is pissed at them, deservedly so or not, and goes to smack them that they just stand there and take it. i personally find that to be ridiculous. i have had a female do that to me once, and let me tell you, if i could've blocked it, i would've. she was just too quick that's all. but do you think most of you are just too quick, or do guys really just stand there and let the woman just bomb away?
