That is the problem with virtue. It goes above morality. If God commanded his people to be virtuous he couldn't have got them to run around slaughtering people who worshipped other gods.

Sin is an outdated concept. No fixed list of moral rules covers all situations. Instead, you should use your brain and think about why something is right or wrong.

The purpose of morality is to allow people to live close to each other. It really has little to do with religion, except that religions have tried to dictate their morality to others.

The theory usually goes that all mortals are inherently sinners and strive for virtue...so, therefore, sin is unavoidable.

This goes back to Genesis. If I had been Abraham and god had ordered me to kill my son, I hope I would have told him to go sit on a nail. He did not deserve a more courteous response.

For those who have moral values, yes, all sin is bad.

For those who have no morals, feel free to improvise.
