I think this comes down to the direct faith of the Christian in question. For example, in the one hour Ted Koppel show, two of the Christians in the second half were talking about how the idea was practically blasphemy. Whereas the Catholic Priest (who, contrary to many beliefs, is ALSO Christian) stated that it didn't matter if they were his bones or not - if they were, then they'd have to reconsider the Resurrection idea (body instead of body AND soul), but if not, then we know as much as we did before. But either way, he still believed in the DIVINITY of Jesus and Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, so THAT was important.
I'm not a Christian, but I would have to say, if I were, that I would agree with the Priest. Is it REALLY important what happened to Jesus AFTER the crucifixion? What is important is the faith...and science and faith are not the same thing. If they could scientifically take the DNA from the supposed Jesus' ossuary AND from the Spear of Destiny (or whatever you call it hehe), and found that he DID have descendants...would that change his divinity for Christians? Is their faith that shake-able?
For most, I would say that it would change NOTHING for them, faith-wise. Some it WOULD change, but I would also speculate that they had little faith to begin with. Maybe the Christians discounting "Lost Tomb of Christ" or "Harry Potter" or "The DaVinci Code" without taking the time to learn about it are afraid of losing their OWN faith. In which case, they should just leave others be to make their own decisions.

It would appear that it wasn't Christians who are promoting it. If the beast that was and is not and yet is is based on trace DNA evidence on what may very well be false speculative evidence; than this could very well be the so-called false messiah after the red moon prophecy. Is scientific evidence proof of a lie after 2,000 years connected to the prophecy as a fulfillment? Remember it was originally the Jews who said he wasn't the Messiah. Are we supposed to believe that now the Jews would prove this after all of these years? Are they once and for all subtly bringing out the proof for the world to see that all he was, was just a mortal man after all? Where is there any possible genetic proof that this indeed was the same person? It's interesting but still leaves more questions than answers. It has even been suggested that this is just an attempt to promote his new book. I am more interested in the archaeological tomb than his alleged DNA evidence. I wonder what the Psychics are saying about it too.

Because the Apostles all died violent deaths while proclaiming that "Christ is risen, and is Lord." They could have been spared by recanting, but they chose death.
No one willingly goes to their death for a lie that they know to be a lie. They would've chosen to live.
During the Watergate scandal of the seventies, the conspirators couldn't keep their lie straight for two weeks. The worst that would happen to them was prison. But they started ratting each other out as soon as the Feds came.
The Apostles were ordinary, unschooled men (except Paul) and had no real power, political or otherwise. The only way to be spared was to deny Christ. They didn't. That alone should be enough for even the most hardened skeptic.
So, why would I want to watch a "documentary" that is designed for one thing...to destroy the faith? Funny that it comes out during the preparations for the celebration of the Resurrection. If that isn't an agenda-driven event, I don't know what is.

Iam a Catholic Christian. I watched it. The man failed to take as evidence eyewitness accounts of when Jesus rose from the dead that He rose BODILY and walked, ate, drank and slept for another 40 days on earth before He ascended BODILY to heaven. There are no bones of Jesus Christ on earth. Another point also, being that Jesus and His family were on the poor side and not the rich, they would not have tombs, only the rich had tombs. The tomb Jesus was in after the crucifxation was that of Joseph of Arimithia(sp) a rich man.

It destroys their religion. The monies collected and the multi-trillion dollar per year multinational business operations of Christianity would take a massive hit. There would be people in the streets walking around shooting each other, since they always state on here that their morals come from their religion. I would be ok, since I realized long ago that the Christ thing was larger than life, just like the rest of the stories on that children's book (Bible).

Hell I'm an Atheist, that was the worst documentary I've ever seen. They used so many name variants from different biblical books, the scope of the project really let me down, I expected more from James Cameron.

Because if you read the Bible you realize such a discovery is impossible. Scripture says that after the Resurrection, Jesus was taken up into heaven body AND soul. There was no need for a tomb - it's a cruel hoax!

i think of I did, replaced into it approximately Judas and his testaments? How stunning! they stumbled on the testomony of Jude and Jude. in accordance to this testomony, he replaced into betraying Jesus to loose Jesus from his physique. Then Jude hung himself because of fact he felt remourse. they don't think of this is traditionally actual. it somewhat is a incredibly youthful record, i think of 4th century.

Because it contradicts the bible and could possibly break down the religion if everyone believes it.
