When you use your keyboard, writing comes up on the screen, also known as a monitor, this writing is called a font. You have many sizes of font and many different styles, you can also change colour. The font that is being used in this instance is arial. If you go to your own personal email (write email)you might be able to see that word (arial) and if there is a little arrow pointing downwards you can click on that, (that is called a drop down menu) and there will be different fonts in there, experiment with them.

I tried to be patronizing then, dont think I pulled it off though.

Go on luv, have a butchers.

OK, see these letters that I am typing with? If I were to change them to a pretty, scrolling, cursive looking letter, that would be a different font. If I were to change the letters to big blocky letters, that would be another type of font.

Many fonts have a name. Some major newspapers, like the New York Times, print the news in their very own font (shape of letters). No other newspaper's type will look exactly like it because the font has been patented by NY Times. If someone chooses to type in NY Times font, they must pay a fee or give credit to the NY Times.

On computers, it is easy to change your font, but back when people typed on typewriters, they had to pull out the little typing ball and replace it with a different one if they wanted to change a font.

Hope this helps!

A font is just like a type of text. Like the style. You could have a font in italics if you wanted to emphasise a point or you could actually change the font to styles already set. Times New Roman is the normal font that we type in but on programs like word you can change any text to a different font. Change it's size, emphasis, colour, style and more.
That's it!
Hope it wasn't too "58"

A font is the size and style of characters or letters that you use for typing on the computer. There is literally hundreds of different fonts and when you type a letter on your computer you choose which you will use. A lot of computers have Times Roman set as default and when you click on the tab you are given many other options and sizes.

A font is the way text is written. It is the different ways that letters look. Some are bold, some skinny, some big and some small. Some font looks like handwriting and some look like old english letters.

On Windows, run "Character Map". (Go to the Start Menu --> Run..., and type charmap)

Those are fonts. Each font has an unique style. Some are easier to read, some are artistic, some are monospaced (each letter has the same width), and some are stylish. The font gives a 'personality' to the text, photograph and/or illustration.

One great site to see for yourself what I have just said: (and those fonts are free) : http://www.myfonts.com/browse/foundry/larabie/

A font is the style of lettering. For example, if you can both print and write in cursive, you can make two different fonts by hand.

Actually, the font is the different typeface. You might use one font to write a letter (Courier or Arial), and another for greeting cards (Cursiva) ... and so forth.

Just the appearance of the letters. The SIZE is the character pitch.
