I have recently replaced sugar with sweatners in my tea (approx same amounts of both)

Is this better, worse, or about the same for me?

Unless you have diabetes , It is recommended that you use sugar , since some artificial sweeteners may have adverse effects on your health.
I advice you to read more about sweeteners by searching the Health Information Center : http://google.com/coop/cse?cx=007185308018807068018%3Ax2z07lqx3mg

Sugar you know can be sucrose, fructose, or dextrose. Sucrose I think primarily comes from cane. Sucrose will give you a quick boost, as demonstrated by energy drinks, while fructose is sugar from fruit. Dextrose I am not sure about. Nutrasweet can be nerve-wracking, Splenda so far has nothing negative. Saccharine is okay, but a lot of people don't care for it. The company that makes saccharine makes sugarless candy with sucralose and one other artificial ingredient, but this product tends to have a laxative effect among some people. Try to limit all is my humble advice, and eat fruit for energy and health.

The great thing about sweeteners is that you get the same sweetness of sugar with out the added calories.

It's up to you and how your body works. You want to stay away from consuming large amounts of artificial sweeteners, but it's just how your body reacts to the chemicals.

Artificial sweeteners cause you to crave real sugar more.

The answer will depend on the type of sweetener you have chosen to use. There is quite a lot of debate over artificial sweeteners and the risks they pose. Research the sweetener you are using and weigh the risk.

I, for one, use splenda and never use sugar. If your goal is to reduce calories it is a step in the right direction.

I have read several articles that indicated that using sweetners made your body crave sugar more. If you are not doing it to lose weight- I would stick with the regular.

worse. artificial sugar may have more fat, but it doesn't hurt your heart nearly as much as regular sugar... switch back! also, people who consume the main ingredient in splenda have been known to get cancer.
