You can make cole slaw using mayo. Also, some chocolate cake recipes call for mayo in their recipes.

If you check out www.allrecipes.com, click on Ingredient Search and type in Mayonnaise, it will come up with all sorts of recipes that call for Mayo. :)

Hi there ...on the bottle of your mayonnaise there should be a 1 800- phone number .Call it and they will ask you to read some information on the jar to them.It is a code and from that they will be able to let you know if it is still good to use or not. They can send you a booklet on other things that you can use mayonnaise with. Also they do on occasion send you coupons if you ask.I hope that this has been some help to you.

As long as the jar was kept in a cool, dark place it should be fine if consumed within a few days of opening. However, once you open the jar, you will indeed know if it is fit to consume or anything else for that matter. Since mayonnaise is also made with eggs, the smell of a jar gone bad is unmistakable.

PREP AND COOK TIME: About 11/2 hours, plus at least 1 day to marinate
NOTES: At Bar Gernika in Boise, Dan Ansotegui serves hearty sandwiches of grilled marinated pork loin slices in rolls with roasted red peppers. Chef Alberto Bereziartua of Epi's in Meridian, Idaho, roasts the whole loin with red peppers. This barbecued roast and the sandwich that follows are inspired by their concepts.
MAKES: 8 servings

6 dried California or New Mexico chilies (each about 5 in. long; 2 oz. total), rinsed, stemmed, and seeded
4 cloves garlic
1 boned, rolled, and tied fat-trimmed pork loin (31/2 to 4 lb.)
6 to 8 red bell peppers (1/2 lb. each), rinsed
2 to 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
Salt

1. Tear chilies into 1/2-inch chunks; soak in 11/2 cups hot water until soft, 15 to 20 minutes.

2. Pour chilies and soaking water into a blender or food processor; add garlic and whirl until smooth.

3. Rinse pork, pat dry, and set in a 9- by 13-inch pan; coat with chili purée. Cover and chill at least 1 day or up to 3 days, turning meat over occasionally.

4. If using charcoal, ignite 60 briquets on the firegrate of a barbecue with a lid. When coals are dotted with gray ash, in 15 to 20 minutes, push equal amounts to opposite sides of grate. Set a drip pan on grate between mounds of coals. Add 5 briquets to each mound now and every 30 minutes while cooking.

If using a gas barbecue, turn heat to high and close lid for 10 minutes. Adjust burners for indirect cooking (no heat down center).

5. Lift pork from marinade and set on grill, not over heat; reserve marinade. Lay bell peppers over direct heat. Cover barbecue; open vents for charcoal. Turn peppers occasionally until charred on all sides, 15 to 25 minutes total; transfer to a rimmed plate. Cook pork until a thermometer inserted in center of thickest part registers 150°, 1 to 11/4 hours total. Transfer to a platter; let rest 5 to 10 minutes.

6. Meanwhile pull skin, stems, and seeds from peppers. Cut peppers in half lengthwise and arrange around pork.

7. Pour reserved marinade into a small microwave-safe bowl; heat in a micro-wave oven at full power (100%) until boiling. Or bring marinade to a boil in a 1- to 11/2-quart pan over high heat. Remove from heat and stir in accumulated juices from pork roast. Add mayonnaise to taste; whisk until smooth. Add salt to taste.

8. Slice meat and serve with peppers, adding salt and chili sauce to taste.
