If you are trying to stay awake without caffeine I would suggest a couple of things:

Try getting a full nights sleep: to help with this do not eat after 5pm at night, when your body digests food as you sleep you do not go into deep sleep (the kind where your body regenerates its' self) as easily.

Try eating carb filled foods during the day: such as pasta. You can go to a local grocery store and buy pre made pasta meals. These contain alot of calories which means lots and lots of energy.

If all else fails and you still need to stay awake, try playing loud music or leaving a window open.

However probably the healthiest solution would be to get a full nights sleep and do your work in the morning.

Hope this helps!

When I'm feeling extra tired at work, I pop in a piece of gum or I have a snack. If you're doing something physical (like chewing, haha), you will stay awake more easily. Also, studies have found that caffiene isn't entirely bad for you for the most part. I personally DO have troubles with it though-it makes me feel shaky and extra hungry, so I have quit drinking coffee entirely. I switched to green tea (still has caffiene, but doesn't make me feel icky), and it has really been working for me. I also don't use sugar in it-just a spoonful of honey does the trick!
Oh yea, you could also try all that other crap like "exercise" and "eating right" hehe, but this quick fix is working pretty well for me. :P Good luck!

Last semester during finals, I had a nervous breakdown after I stayed up for 2 nights drinking Coke and Dr. Pepper. I went to the doctor completely messed up. He gave me a butt-shot of Vitamin B12 and within five minutes I felt like a million percent better. Now instead of drinking caffeine for energy I'll take some sublingual B12 (a liquid form that you put under your tongue). It's freaking amazing.

I just handed in two essays today after being up all night drinking caffine rich Dr. pepper. Going to go to sleep. Personally I only use caffine in excess when I am behind schedule and need to stay awake to finish work. But ideally to stay healthy really should not do it if possible. Plan ahead - and try and finish your work earlier.

Caffeine remains controversial in a normal healthy adult it should be safe enough in normal intake. Coffee sure does get me going in the morning. I'm a nurse and have seen individuals who experience premature atrial or ventricular contractions due to high caffeine intake.Even then most of them still will drink one or two cups/day.unless the cardiologist insists on avoidance of all caffeine.

Definitely don't load up on caffiene. i went through a period of drinking lots of coffee, and now i have an ulcer! Stick to healthy foods like fruits and only drink minimal amounts of coffee. sleep as much as you can, although i know that can be hard. If you are in an intense studying period just take regular breaks and walk around to ease off your brain for a bit! the healthier and better shape you are in, the more it takes for you to get really tired! good luck.

eat an apple.

or blueberries.

really any fruit is good for energy. the carbs give you energy, but slowly, unlike the caffene jolt.
