I know I already asked this, but I wanted more answers because I cannot find anything online at ALL. My back gum is swollen, and it hurts a lot. It is very big compared to the other gum. Am I getting my wisdom teeth?

Thank you so much everyone! You have really helped me, because I was very clueless before. I can't believe that they don't say anything about HOW the wisdom teeth develop; they only say that they come in around this age... and they usually are removed... all this stuff but not what I was looking for, lol!
Anyway, thank you all so much for answering and helping me! : )

BTW, I meant "they" as in, random websites that come from searches online.

My swollen gums back there started when I was around 17. I did not get my wisdom teeth out until age 28. I was able to tolerate the pain until that last year or so - it would come and go to that point. Also, it was starting to interfere with my chin nerve on the one side, and causing chronic sinus pain, too. They never actually "came in". The one did finally start exiting the gum, but it was turning sideways and shoving on my other molars. I got all four impacted wisdom teeth cut out at the same time. They put me totally under, but I was so glad after I finally had it done.

Yes it could definitely be your wisdom teeth. They usually come in around 17, 18 and as last as 21 I think. If you develop a fever, puss from the tooth you need to seek medical attention right away. I would make an appt with a dentist just to make sure that they are coming in correctly and not infected.

they generally come in around 18. there are a couple of reasons dentists like to pull them. often, wisdom teeth are shorter than your other teeth or misformed. sometimes they can even be rotten. they also want to pull them if they are impacted (growing in sideways, pushing on another tooth or going to, or do not drop down properly). all teeth hurt the gums when they come in. some people use ice. you might want to go to a teething website for babies and see their ideas. if your wisdom teeth are normal and not going to threaten your other teeth, there is no reason to pull them. if you do need them pulled, go to a biologic dentist or biologic oral surgeon so you don't get a cavitation.

Yes, it's most likely your wisdom teeth coming in. Or you could have Gingivitis, but I doubt its the gingivitis. Just see your doctor so you can get them removed, if it actually is the wisdom teeth, because its better to get them out now before the pain gets worse.

It's very possible. Your best bet is to go to the dentist and have them do a panoramic xray. That will tell you if your wisdom teeth are coming in and also make sure they are coming in straight (not impacted).

it depends how old you are. if your above the age of 16 then i would say yes there is a chance its your wisdom teeth. go to the dentist and they can take x-rays and decide whether to let the wisdom teeth grow in or to take them out. good luck!

That's what happened to me when I got mine in. My back gums were swollen and they hurt. Finally a few days I could feel the tooth breaking through.

Sounds like it.
Possibly what is happening is an infection or perhaps your wisdomo teeth are trying to make room back there.
Reality is they HAVE to come out. They can cause BIG problems if not
