My life is pretty good right now. In fact, I'm ecstatic over my sons newest discovery - he can give people little kisses. It's adorable, he'll walk up to Daddy and peck him on the cheek. I just want to cry, it's so beautiful... he's learning how to show love.
Oh, and I'm a non-believer.

I was once a non-believer, though I now believe not being happy was NOT the reason I started believing. I am just as happy now as i was when I didn't believe. Basically I think it really boils down to the individuals and their lives in general, so you can't say one group is happier then the other as a whole. Besides, each side will say they are happier so it will not answer your question with any accuracy.

When I was a kids I use to look at my parents who take care of me and that makes me feel proud, happy and fearless. Now when i compare myself with ophens i find myself far better and happy person.
In this big universe humans are very lonely and small and they need someone to look after them who is bigger than anything else. When i think that after death i'll be finish make me feel very little as then there is no purpose of my being born. Beliving on someone (God) make me feel happy and proud that I've some one who takes care of me and will do the justice. I can't belive in the theory of evoluation that humans are born just by an accident. This world is very complex and so perfect that there should be a flawless creator for all that and that got to be only one.
By beliving on One God make me feel happy and satisfy and answer the question of my birth on this Earth.

Atheist have limitations. We live by the laws of this government. We do so willingly, and without the need of thinking a higher power is going to judge us. We do the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing.
There is a very big misconception that atheists live wild, crazy, party filled lives. Actually, it isn't really as much a misconception, as it is "mudslinging". Churches don't want it advertised that atheists are out there living good lives. Then, people would question the need for religion altogether.

I don't think you can generalize that one group is happier than the other, though both could make the argument that ignorance is bliss.
My guess is that those who are truly most at peace/confident in their choice are happiest. But I must say, I think happiness has more to do with personality, optimism or pessimism than religion. Those who always look for the positive rather than the negative tend to be happiest in my experience. I have known many pessimist christians, and despite what they may claim, they are truly miserable.

Buddhists live their lives peacefully and are very happy. We are very Optimistic in Life. We have the Noble Eightfold Path to serve as our guide, to know our limitations. If we do not abide in these moral and ethical standards we cause harm to ourselves and to others. And we, are unbelievers, as you call them, we have no belief in a creator god. We are happy of the fact that there has never been a war in the name of Buddhism, but that does not make us any better than anyone else. The Buddhist ways are peaceful, loving, very Patient, compassionate, forgiving others, and we live a very Happy Life. Do No Harm to others, for we respect Life = Life is Sacred, AND respecting (without judging or condemning others) the Free Will of others are the two most important principles we live by.
Why do we compare ourselves with others ? Is such an egoistic attitude helpful or harmful ?
A Peaceful mind will not attack or harm others in thought, word, or deed.
It is quite helpful for us all to cultivate Patience {which is the antidote to anger) = [Patience is the ability to remain internally calm, and undisturbed in the face of harm and difficulties in Life], and to cultivate Loving-kindness {which is the antidote to Hatred), to cultivate compassion {which is the wish for all beings to be Happy, to have peace of mind, and to be free from suffering), and to cultivate Altruism !!
**Respecting the Free Will of others is important, and remembering that we all must find our own way which works best for us to acquire a stable peace of mind, to acquire Happiness, and to be free from suffering.
Thank You for Your question, Have an Excellent Week/Weekend !

A person cannot be truly happy without Jesus Christ in his or her life. I believe that answers your question. There is a void within each one of us that only God can fill.

I really think non believers are happier. But you have to understand why, we're not at home here, we're apart of the Kingdom, and that's why Christ say we're in the world but not of the world. Since we're the enemy to Satan, his primary job is to keep us bound down, and defeated, but that's the difference between joy and happiness. Joy is a decision you choose, and joy comes from God. So if you're broke no money in your pocket but love God, you still can have joy, because happiness comes from being delighted, pleased, or glad, as over a particular thing, but our joy comes from just simply knowing God.
