I won't tell you what I ate, as it may bias your answer.
I had the worst aching on the roof of my mouth after eating this food (1 day as fresh, from take-out, the second day as leftovers).
I am 32 years old, no health problems, and have never had this reaction before last week. It felt like someone punched the roof of my mouth, and I was also sneezy and wheezy. I don't have allergies to anything, unless this is a new one.

I'm sorry; I just thought someone might know without me saying what I ate.
Shrimp with lobster sauce, shrimp fried rice, egg drop soup, white rice. I have never had this happen with Chinese take-out before, nor with any shellfish. Is it MSG? I'm completely serious.

Food allergies can be quite unpredictable. An allergy to a food can develop at any point in your life, even if it's a food you eat all the time. And allergic reactions to that food can also widely vary. I am allergic to fish, nuts, some cheeses, and all raw veggies and fruit (I'm allergic to a protein in them that is broken down during the cooking process). The allergic reaction can be anyphalactic(spelling?), or simply just a sensitivity to the food. In an anyphalactic reaction, your tongue and throat swell, causing shortness of breath and etc. This is the most dangerous type of reaction and can be life-threatening. A food sensitivity can cause a bunch of different symptoms like: upset stomach, itchiness and/or pain of the throat and/or tongue, and even a rash over various parts of your body.
It sounds somewhat like a food allergy to me, so be careful. Even if your reaction to that food was tolerable this time, it could be much worse the next time. I suggest speaking to an allergist to see about getting allergy testing done. The test involves the doctor making small scratches on your back and applying various allergens to the scratches to see what reaction takes place. That is the safest thing to do at this point. Good luck!!

Not sure what I ate last week, but has a similar reaction... Just want to check the symptoms. Last week I had aching in my jaw in the back, and the soft palette of the roof of my mouth felt like a bruise. It hurt worse at night. It felt swollen... Like that?

I agree with the allergies thing. But also, I frequently get an achy roof of my mouth when I eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or something else on really soft bread. I think it is cause it doesn't need a lot of chewing so I must just be mashing it on the roof of my mouth.

If it were hot you may have burned the roof of your mouth. The other possibility is an allergic reaction. In either case it should be better in a few days

Unless you tell us what it was you ate, no one can really help you. It may be an allergic reaction especially if had nuts in it or if it was a type of seafood. I say unless you are going to tell us what you ate, you shoul probably go to the doctor.

It could be a serious allergic reaction. I would get to a doctor if it doesn't clear up and what ever it was I wouldn't eat it again. Your reaction could be much worse.
