There are many places to search for scholarships otehr than Fastweb including in the community and on the web. My favorite on the web is Scholarshipexperts because it is recommended by Forbes magazine (offers a nice long detailed survey to fill out and tabulates the potential amount of scholarships). The public library has a book listing scholarships with some not even listed on the web. The high school guidance office has a list of local scholarships for high school juniors and seniors. Finally, the college financial aid office will list outside scholarships from outside organizations. Good luck!

Filling out your FAFSA will not help you with scholarships unless the application asks for your EFC (Expected Family Contribution). Type scholarships into your web browser, there are several options. NEVER, NEVER, pay for a scholarship or 'guaranteed free' money. It is fraud. I used to work in Financial Aid, there are alot of scholarships in your local community - try your church, HS, 4H club, parents employers sometimes have scholarships. I had a student get one from her bowling league once - you'll have better luck applying for local scholarships, rather than national (less competition for the $$), unless you are a genius/gifted individual, it'll be tough to stand out of the crowd in national applications. If you know what you want to major in (i,e, engineering) look into firms that hire those individuals, they may offer money to their 'future employees'. Good Luck. The money is out there....

Have you filled out your FAFSA yet? If not, go do that.

There are a lot of sites you check on the internet, but, if you have a school that you particularly like, talk to their Financial Aid Office.
