What WOULD Jesus Do?

why dont they instead read the bible and ask themselves, "What DID Jesus Do?"

wouldnt it make more sense to act as jesus DID, not as you think he WOULD?

because many of our 'situations' were not around when Christ was alive on earth.... so we have to say... what would Jesus do, if he were here in this situation.... and that is why it is in that tense of the word. to be actually correct, the phrase would be just that:

what would Jesus do if He were here right now in this situation?

I think it's a matter of semantics (boy, how DO you spell that?) I think the idea is to read the bible, see how Jesus handled situations, and then act, in the situation you find yourself, as you believe He would act. As another poster pointed out, in none of the gospels are any of the proms that He might have attended mentioned, so it leads us to needing to interpret how we think He "would" act at the prom.

On the other hand, we are told that "there is nothing new under the sun", so the general situations we find ourselves in really are repeated from the past. Just an upgraded form of Microsoft to deal with.

The question what would Jesus do, is just a tool, to help you stop, and really consider, whether or not you are making your decisions, along with what Jesus made clear to us, in his teachings. If the holy spirit lives on the inside of you you will understand.

Aside from being a cutesy little catchphrase (which, to be honest, annoys me...but hey that's my personality) it seems like it could be more of an introspection. If a person (who isn't just spouting off Christianese) says that, and then wonders what Jesus WOULD do if he were in this situation, it makes them think about what is going on, and trying to figure out from what they know of God, what the right response would be.

But anymore it just means "I speak Christianese and you don't!"

It does make more sense but Jesus really didn't do that much. It seems that many go on what they think Jesus would do based on Paul's teachings.

To act as Jesus DID seems to be against the current christian doctrine.

Because we try to practice moral behavior. Jesus' actions and words are good reminder.

If you find this ridiculous, why not ask yourself why you don't have time for moral behavior?
