You are getting the runaround. I've seen this happen before, where the doctors don't pay enough attention until the cancer is very serious, and then they can make money from you or your insurance company. The only problem is that it is hard on YOU.
Medicine is a $2.1 trillion a year business in this country, and the system is set up to suck the wealth and life out of the American public. Only 1 in 3 people with cancer live for 5 years after diagnosis, and that number hasn't changed significantly in the last 30 years, despite many billions being spent of 'research' every year.
I have cancer now. I'm disgusted with the system, and have turned to alternative medicine since my doctors have told me there is no hope. Bitter? Yes, I am--and my anger has motivated me to learn about blacklisted, totally effective, natural methods of disease control.
You are just starting in the meat grinder right now, and I strongly urge you to look for an answer besides artificial drugs, surgery and radiation. Here are some books I have read from cover to cover, that are now helping me to survive way beyond my doctors' grim predictions--
"The Cure For All Advanced Cancers"
"The Cure for All Cancers"
"A Cancer Therapy"
"Oxygen Therapies"
"Hydrogen Peroxide--Medical Miracle"
"The Natural Cure for Cancer--Germanium"
"Killing Cancer The Jason Winters Story"
"Natural Cures 'They' Don't Want You to Know About"
There are many other good books about surviving this disease, and you should know about this option, even if you choose to go the traditional route with it's abysmal prognosis. Best of luck.

Your town or city MUST have a County facility. She needs to be seen there, and then go to the finance office and see about getting either ATP (ability to pay) or ORSA.. and I can't remember what that stands for.
I'm 43, white (Caucasian) born here, I just went to USC with uterine cancer. I am not working this year because I take care of my mom.
I went to the finance office, told them I had NOTHING (I hope your mom does not own an expensive house) although they NEVER asked me anything, other than do you work, no. Is someone supporting you, no not really, are you being abused at home, no. They only asked for some piece of mail which would prove where I live.. THAT AS IT!
I got my surgery, I will NEVER have to pay a dime.
Please go to a University or County facility. They will tell you exactly what to do. Don't be afraid. I was, and I found out I didn't have to be. Best wishes and prayers to your mom, she is going to be fine!

Start searching the web. There are groups out there that can help with expenses. Also, your local hospital/cancer clinic should have a social worker that you can talk to about this. They should be able to direct you in the right direction with trying to obtain financial assistance from organizations and such. Plus...I dont know where you live....I live in a small community..... but usually communities will pull together to help. See if you can get someone to do a fundraiser, or a local organization to have a benefit to help with medical expenses

Is it possible for her to apply for Social Security Disablity? Check with your local hosptial and see if she qualifies for any social responsibility programs they might have. The American Cancer Society might also be able to direct you. If your local hosptial is a non- for - profit they might be willing to help your mother as they are required to write off bills of patients that can't afford services. Although they are not required to provide care that is for non emergent illnesses. Cancer can be a chronic illness and it a good idea for your mom to apply for Medicaid when she can she will need it then also.
Let this be an example to you, make sure you educate yourself for you and your children. Go to school and learn a trade so this will never happen to you. Statics show that people who finish college have a better income and better access to healthcare through employer sponsored insurance and programs.

You can hold a benefit dinner or a fundraiser to earn money for you Mothers medical bills. I know many people who have done this and they raised so much money they were able to pay of most of their bills, but not all of them.

How does she know she has cancer? I assume a doctor has diagnosed her? Then go to that doctor for help. I don't know where she lives, but she can also contact the local department of social services for help.

Try your local chapter of the American Cancer Society. They should be able to hook you up with any resources available in your area.
Best wishes
