The Bread represents the knowledge of Christ. He broke a piece of bread for each of his disciples. This simply means that he gave each of his disciples a part of his knowledge and he told them to "do this (break bread) in remembrance of Me". Each has a part but when they come together, they have the whole.
The Blood represents the Life Force. "Drink My Blood." This is telling the disciples to live the life that the Christ Lived.
They were given the knowledge and instructed to walk the path that the one called Jesus walked.
Too many people are stuck on the Symbolism and don't carry into practice the true meaning. Most do not know the true meaning.
I know that you are being somewhat sarcastic but it is good to point out the fact that people just blindly follow symbolism without knowing what it is that they are doing.

we are to "REMEMBER" Christ when we take communion.... when he told his disciples that "this is my body' he meant 'my body will be broken like this bread, for you'... when he said 'this is my blood'.. he meant 'my blood will be shed for you and remember me when you drink the cup'
the wine and bread does NOT turn into flesh and blood, contrary to some churches ideas. at the end of a 'mass' you could take the wafers and wine that is left and do some scientific tests and it will still be wine and wafers... never actually being flesh and blood, as that was not Christs' intent.

My friend you are mistaken. He does not mean for us to literally eat of His body or drink of His blood. It is symbolic in nature. It is meant to represent and remind us of the 'new-covenant' which allows for the sins of man to be forgiven.
(I don't think God would approve of us drinking and eating each other!)

I believe this to be one of the ways the new Pharisees try to convince their parishes that god can only be reached through them. Ergo; dogma!

He doesn't want us to be "canabalistic vampires". It's a symbol that we recognize what he has done for us, and that he is a part of us.

I'm sure there's been more blood drank in his name than the blood of 1,000 men... I think it doesn't matter now, everything all about symbolism anymore.
